Fun fact: the taj mahal isnt actually indian. The person behind the taj mahal was shah jahan, who dedicated this to his wife after she died. He was not indian, he was from the mughal empire. So technically, the taj mahal is a structure from the afghans.

Did a little research: Turned out this set was originally released back in 2008 at around 300$. Resellers scalped this set to high heavens ever since so the price reached absolutely ridiculous level. Fast forward to 2017 Lego was like: "SUPRISE MFERS! WE WILL RE-RELEASE THIS SET OUT OF NOWHERE FOR 70$ EXTRA BECSAUSE YES WE CAN". Basically, the "hate" was pure seethe from the resellers.
