I work in the UK office. We are generally generous with goodwill and depends on the amount of damage, value of the set and other factors which I can’t disclose. Our US staff has more wiggle room with goodwill then our staff members in Singapore, UK and Germany.

I had the same experience in The Netherlands with the vintage camera and Santa's front yard arriving crushed by a heavy LEGO factory box inside the shipping box. I was allowed to keep them and receive two replacements for free.

Only replaced if in stock! If not they will refuse to offer anything and refuse to satisfy the Customer like it said in their policy!

The quality of Legos packaging is pretty minimal. I would never send items in the manner that they do, often with no padding and with the bare minimum of tape used 😞

They could certainly benefit from some better packaging training, but I almost would bet that they analyzed the cost and found that most customers are fine with what they do and the cost to make things right (with great customer service) is cheaper than additional materials and labor to change it.

I have great experience with Lego service, they are doing great job. Other companies should learn from them.

Tip : Always order a small Brickhead with your original order and claim that the box is damaged very badly. The customer support will always send you a new one.

I appreciate the comment, although it's not something I can support. I wouldn't want to encourage anyone to be dishonest. I'm not saying that It may not allow you to get some free sets, but I would never do this my self. In fact I tend to go the other end of the spectrum and typically don't call even when i receive damaged boxes. We all have our own morals and rules that we follow. This is one that I try not to waiver on. I encourage everyone to be honest, always.

lol, they are great to get large qty of sets at some good prices... just keep your fingers crossed you don't have to work / talk to their customer service.
