In this video, we review and compare the LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 sets from 2014 and 2016. These building brick models represent the 1959 Cadillac from the 1984 Ghostbusters film and the 1983 Cadillac from the 2016 film.

2014 LEGO Ideas Ecto 1 is one of my favourite LEGO sets of all time and looks fantastic, better than the 2016 version.

I only have the LEGO Ideas Ecto-1 set, but I also have the DeLorean and TARDIS from that theme too, so it balances out.

The original Ecto 1 was based on an ambulance while the 2016 Ecto 1 is based on a Funeral vehicle which is awesome.

I have been watching Toy Replay every week for a while now and I am a big fan! It was interesting to think about what makes a Lego set great. I hadn't really thought about that before. The 2016 ecto one is a 1984 Caddie not a 1983, this was done on purpose as a nod to the original 1984 film.

+tiburonroano that was actually my hypothesis about the choice for this vehicle, but I got my info from the episode of Jay Leno's Garage with Dan Aykroyd. He calls it a 1983. I'd be surprised if he's wrong, but I'm not sure it really matters as the original film was filmed in 1983 and a 1984 Cadillac would have been released summer 1983, so it's kind of all a wash :-)

+TigerShark GB merch sales in general are doing well. And as LEGO sales are their own animal anyway, I imagine this will have a typical LEGO movie tie-in release. In the end, bricks are bricks regardless of IP.

I'm gonna be honest: I'm biased too. I love the 1984 Ghostbusters movie, and couldn't care less about the 2016 remake. So my favorite is the original 2014 Ecto-1. The 2016 Ecto-1 & 2 I have absolutely 0 interest in.

+SUPERSONIC GAMING If you're only getting one, judging solely on the LEGO build, I think I would recommend the classic ghostbusters set. If you've seen both films, get the one for the film, team or car you like the most!

+Toy Replay I love the old car but the new one looks more cleaned up on the top and those red wheels with the red top, the ghost figure instead of the Cadillac figure just make me love it more. Plus how they made the car is also funny since it was Holtzman who decided to make this while Patty was stunned and surprised about what they did to the "borrowed" car hahahaha.
