Qantas moved theirs to long term storage, they believe demand for them will return in 2023. Long term storage is expensive, they could have simply scrapped the planes and walked away, but they opted to spend the funds to keep these. Emirates wants to continue updating their fleet, but after the pandemic blows over (I believe ANA also has at least one more ready to be delivered in a Sea Turtle livery, but they also want to wait this out, so it’s sitting in Toulouse right now.)

Man, I just caught on this A380 update, and it’s a big milestone since 2018, where you discussed the possibility of a lego A380, being there and being here is quite a magical feeling. Though with such a large project, it feels like it might be your last. I know for sure, this couldn’t be the end of your ideas and projects. Right now, my “theories” are probably an updated techniques for larger single deck planes, maybe an A350? I’ll just have to guess until your next project. Keep on building king!

Excellent work as always, though I can't help but ask: You're stacking plates across the whole thickness of the wing? I've got to be wrong, that'd be WAY too heavy! Do you use a hollow internal structure, or would that be too weak?
@BigPlanesCustomLEGOaircraft4 жыл бұрын
Some parts are hallow. However I need as much strength as possible in this area.
@operator_hoodie4 жыл бұрын
I mean, depending on the wings thickness (and on the real a380 they are REALLY thick towards the fuselage) then there's gotta be more support structure... So it would be heavy either way

Upside down in this medium grey color, the wings right now look like the close up shot of something from Star Wars. (ILM used all kinds of bits and pieces from model kits to add “greebling” to ships and the Death Star, unlike Star Trek that tried to keep things smooth and clean. Gave Star Wars that “used future” look.
