its crazy to me how ignorant people are of what the swastika represented in Asian culture before world war 2. The module at 3:00 looks like that on purpose, but its meant to represent Buddhism as it is a symbol of the religion in Asia, despite what many of you probably think its referencing
@mccalderbros5647
@mccalderbros5647 5 жыл бұрын
yeah, but the symbol has been completely ruined by nazis and has all but been dropped from Buddhist culture as a whole for fear of being associated with the terrible event that was the holocaust. So while he probably did mean it as the Buddhist interpretation, people are right to question the decision of making something look like a symbol that is connected more with a mass murder and less with the beautiful religion that is Buddhism

@@mccalderbros5647 you are right. But OP is also right, as both camps now need to understand where each one is coming from. Just remember other symbols have been corrupted as well. The five pointed star has been used by evil empires and yet we are not lambasted for using them today.

I know what you're thinking, but in the eastern world this is not an issue at all. It is about time the rest of the world get over it too. It is used in a totally different setting. All good.

And a swastika originally is no invention of Hitler. Was used by the "Freiheitsmaurer" (eng "Freemason) before that. But it made me laugh to see a "Windmühle der Toleranz" (eng "Windmill of tolerance")

3:04 *Is NOT a Nazi swastika!* *Its called "manji"! In Japanese slang, manji now has an array of meanings. According to My Navi, kids say it when they’re taking photos like the English word “cheese,” and it’s also used to refer to mischevious or excitable personality. As with the the original character, which can mean mercy or good fortune, its slang version has various definitions. It’s not to be confused with the Nazi swastika, which certainly could happen. This character is the manji. Taken from: www.google.de/amp/s/kotaku.com/the-buddhist-swastika-becomes-popular-slang-in-japan-1822404738/amp Just to clear things up

Please watch this little video people. Also remember symbols like for instance the star have been used by different empires all over the place. Just because an evil empire used the star does it mean everyone else who uses the star symbol is somehow representing that evil? Think about that. The manji or temple symbol was around long long before other peoples usurped it. Do they get to ruin it for everyone else forever?

3:00 the swastika is a symbol of life in Asia, and its use predates the Nazi's use of it in world war 2 so stop calling them Nazi's because its clearly not what you think it is (this is for all the people in the comments)
