LEGO Harry Potter: Hogwarts Hospital Wing - Review!

I think what summarizes the difference between the OG Harry Potter sets and the recent wave (especially since 2021) is that the old ones offered scale and size while the new ones prioritize details and small bricks. This set has beautiful beds, windows, accessories, clock mechanism. The old sets used big boring bricks but it allowed them to make it twice as high. Same for the 2001 and 2021 Great Hall sets. Not sure what I prefer.

Both are definitely great in their own way. I honestly feel the sole Order of the Phoenix set back in the day was a really good mixture of the styles.

I really like the fresh look of the interior. Idk why but it works so well for me.

I don't think I gave it enough credit in the video itself, but the bed design is really nice. They look far comfier than the movies depict them, but I'm totally fine with that. You're right - I can't explain it, but the colors and everything just works really well. I think the blue is just a nice change from the usual brown shelving detail we get too.

This set looks awesome. I love the exclusive excessories and the Madame Pomfrey minifig. I don't really concern myself with the size of any of the exteriors in this series since you can easily connect them to the other sets, so the height doesn't really bug me.

I agree that it's a worthy compromise. I think this 'format' of building up your own Hogwarts is so much more creative and fun than the 2018-2020 models which you could simply just put in a line.

Thank you! I was really surprised with just how much new stuff this had to offer. In the past, I feel like Harry Potter cheaped out on the spring wave (if we got a spring wave at all lol) but they went all out on this one. Growing the channel is undoubtedly a grind, but still quite fun. Everyone's been so supportive and it makes creating the videos well worth the effort.

Just found your channel! Love your review, set up.. keep it up! I love mdm promfrey, skelegro, Bertie botts, time turner printed pieces.. I’ve been waiting for LEGO to make them, finally.. I already have the 2019 clock tower, and tbh I hate the 20th anni versions, mainly the exterior.. at this point the only reason I’m getting this set is for mdm pomfrey + all the printed pieces and nice hospital bed builds.. will probably use the other parts in my existing 2018-2020 wave/MOCs.. really hope LEGO go back to the 2018-2020 style if they decide to make any new sets they haven’t included in that wave..

The style change was certainly abrupt, and there's pros and cons to both. I wish some happy middle ground could exist, but I'm not convinced it's possible without even the smallest of sections becoming wayyy too costly. At the end of the day, it's LEGO, and the beauty of it is you can tear it down and build something even bigger and better! I do hope we eventually get a minifig scale direct to consumer portion of the castle at some point to appeal to older fans. A $250 Great Hall or clock tower could be incredible!

Honestly the only thing that would make the skele-grow better is if they includes a skeleton baby body, which would make it the most accurate

I think the chest is supposed to be a hogwarts trunk which is why it's a flat top.

It is not too exciting. Altough it contains great playability. For me the best details is the pomfrey minifigure and the little skele-grow bottle

Got a bit of a dilemma with this set... I don't see it fitting that well with the rest of the expansions, if only it was taller - that's probably my main gripe with the set also :P

I think I'll have to rebuild the other 20th anniversary sets and try putting them all together too. It does seem stylistically a bit different (I think it looks better than some of the other flatter exteriors we saw last year, but still might clash)

@@CheeseyStudios So far I only have the 'Polyjuice Potion Mistake' set and 'Fluffy's Encounter' - I'm hoping to grab 'The First Flying Lesson' along with the new 'Chamber of Secrets' and then... not sure about this one, very intrigued about 'Dumbledore's Office' though! I only built the bathroom set so far and I love it so much; I know people aren't fond of the flat exterior look and sand green roofs but since I'm a massive sucker for nostalgia I'm actually a fan of these choices and feel quite glad about missing out on all the previous Hogwarts sets so that I can justify collectin' this wave :P

@@AntoniTolwinski Sand green all the way! This format is just so much more fun than the old one, even if it's not entirely film accurate. For a playset, I really don't think that that's all that important (so many that's jeez). Super excited for Dumbledore's office as well. The set's certain to be a guaranteed win for fans!

I unfortunately lost any desire to collect the hogwarts castle set I like the idea of multiple sets but they never seem to look like the movies castles just a bunch of interlocking towers with the two notable ones

That's fair! The newer waves have focused a lot more on playability than accuracy. Both are important, but as a MOC builder, I part out both kinds anyway lol!
