I think we all need to keep in mind that the popularity with boba fett especially with younger fans has died down a lot after the show. I think that played a big role in the scout helmet doing better not just supply.

Set 74125 may surprise some people. Universal is building a roller coaster based on this same mine cart ride concept. It opens next year, and this set has a less than 2 year shelf life. My son who has been building these the past few waves, picked this out over the others when given the choice. I picked up a couple.

I did not know this! Interesting information. This is my favorite Mario playset yet, probably because the build looks complete and not reliant on the electronic game pieces. If the roller coaster does drive demand to this set then you'll have been the first to call it

Excellent video! I really enjoyed the discussion with Shane about Lego investing strategies. I’m relatively new to Lego investing/reselling. But I have learned so much from watching Shane’s , yours and Kevin’s videos. I love that all three of you have a data driven and logical approach to this process. I had heard of the Ignite program from Shane’s videos. Wasn’t sure what it entailed. But hearing your discussion today makes me think I should join it once I start getting some sales under my belt. Great Video once again! I think the Lea Helmet will do very well simply for the fact that the Helmet has a Heritage Value to it since it comes from the first Star Wars Movies and will be pretty undersupplied once its off the shelves.

Just a thought, but I don’t think LEGO has technically ever said they were discontinuing the helmet line for good. It wouldn’t surprise me if they are just taking a break and leaving some of these better selling ones on the market to ‘hold the theme’ and give them time to test some of these other themes (diorama; starship; etc). I think Vader being held over is more an indicator that the helmet line could continue in late 2025 or early 2026. Just something to marinate on…🤔🤷🏼‍♂️

I'd love if your theory was true, but I can't think of any examples of a subtheme pausing releases for this long and then picking back up. It's been 15 months since we last had helmets released, and there are no leaks indicating that more could be coming later in 2024. There are plenty of helmets they could make that would sell well, but the subtheme appears to be finished.

I opened and enjoyed my 2004-2010 Star Wars sets and sold them nearly all for a gain in 2015-2019. I don't know if those results will be repeatable in today's market, but if you got discounts when you bought your sets, you should at least break even selling 5-10 years later.

Shane talked abt the best time of the year to sell - however, when you sell locally on say fb marketplace, is Q4 then the best bc there usually aren't a massive amount of sellers?

yeah local marketplaces like FB are great during Q4. The demand will spike, but supply usually won't keep up. That said, sales volume is still lower on local marketplaces, so it depends on the volume you plan to sell. You may be better off listing earlier and having the listings up for longer if you have many units of each SKU, rather than wait until Q4

It'd be hard to determine trends on local sales (Marketplace, craigslist, offerUp) without sourcing & compiling data from many different individuals and markets. My opinion (to be taken with a grain of salt) is that marketplace sales volume would increase because of Holiday gift buyers.

@@BrickBucks Thanks Shane! One more quick question: you said you are in a lot of groups so you can hear abt product lines like modulars, do people generally like the sanctum sanctorum as an addition to their city? Same question with ninjago city gardens, they are overlooked sets

@@Pierce-qp5ex I wouldn't necessarily say those sets are seen as must-haves for a modular city, but they definitely do have some demand from city builders. And both sets also have their own collectability too. Huge fan of the large Ninjago sets. We've seen some solid investing performance from that lineup in the past

Shane was saying that demand spikes because of the Christmas demand. The problem is that supply also spikes during this time since sellers send in all their sets.

What you are not talking about and nobody knows is what sets is Amazon going to invest in this year? People call them zombie sets but they are not Amazon knows what they are doing. There are a number of them this year Amazon did what we do and buy sets at retirement, this kills the investment in them. This year Amazon could "invest" in many more if they wanted to as they have unlimited money and storage!

Regarding sets like the office, big bang… Its all about the fan base of those movies. A greys anatomy set wouldnt do great but big bang theory? huge nerd fanbase, thats why it rose much more than the other alike sets

I think a Greys set might do okay actually but yeah the success of a set correlates with the size of the fanbase generally speaking.

Yeah, I totally hear you. But one counter if I may...our goal with these podcasts is to bring information (data, mentions), resources (eBay, Brickset) and tools (camel3x, Ignite) in an entertaining way. Ignite is another tool we are simply making our audience aware of. No pressure to sign up...that's everyone's individual decision. I use Ignite, it's absolutely fantastic for the direction I want to go. But, totally understandable that others don't want it. Absolutely no pressure, just information/resource/tool sharing! I'm glad you like our videos, next one coming soon!

We get lots of sponsorship requests but most of them are pure garbage (offbrand bricks, overpriced Star Wars merch). We don't want to disrespect our viewers by peddling garbage (either products or videos) and we never will.
