Actually, I recall that Power Miners actually did get a complete ending in a two-page LEGO Club Magazine comic. If my memory is correct, the bigfig in the Lavatraz set was the last of the Rock Monsters, and by defeating him the earthquakes stopped happening. Not the most riveting ending, but it gave the needed closure my eight-year-old self.
@NickonPlanetRipple7 жыл бұрын
That... is pretty weak. I get it that the lava monsters are an upgrade from the rock monsters, but do they really expect us to believe that mid-tier one was the final boss? Not a giant two-headed lava monster had the theme gone on long enough?
@marooncactus71116 жыл бұрын
Well that was the end of the series, but one character appeared in another theme, Atlantis, which connected the two. There are so many references to other system sets from other themes, it seems like theres a shared universe. I mean not like the lego movie, or dimensions, i would love if there was a video connecting everything together, such as Atlantis to Aqua Raiders and Power Miners, to Ninjago connecting to Ultra Agents, which was connected to Agents, which connected to Alpha Team
@legoroan98666 жыл бұрын
Maroon Cactus these lists here are themes that are connected 1. Aqua raiders-Power Miners-Atlantis-Pharaoh's Quest-Alien Conquest-Dino-adventures 2. Monster Fighters-Galaxy Squad-Ultra Agents 3. Agents-Racers-City All these themes are connected in Lego magazines (for example brains (power miners) joins the Atlantis team, the Atlantis villains, pharaohs quest villains and dino villains worked for the alien conquest main villain in a comic and josh thunder and Johnny thunder but everyone knows that, Solomon blaze is in galaxy squad and ultra agents and there's a comic where Lord vampire (monster hunters) brings down the aliens from galaxy squad and there's a game called the robot chronicles which connects the third list

Cool car 161 another thing that slipped my mind, in the Ultra Agents app, there was a revealing of the old Agents uniform, which means those two are connected also. Ultra Agents shared characters with Ninjago, which could mean those are connected as well

I remember when the Power Miners came out. I loved the theme, colors, and vehicles. The alternate builds were so much fun to build. Power Miners released at the time when the Star Wars Clone Wars sets were dominating and I really didn't like the way the faces of the minifigs in those sets looked at the time. I just love the underground digging idea. As a kid I loved to dig in the dirt, so this theme really clicked with me. I remember having all sorts of scenarios built in my room. So much fun.

I loved playing with legos as a kid, but I was never a lego maniac. It was mostly because my family never had too much money at their hands to buy toys, so all I had was a box of old bricks with a few other old sets thrown in as well. Still, I liked looking at the boxes on store shelves. And when I saw Power Miners there, they caught my attention immidiately. I had to have at least one. I scrambled some money from my allowence and bought myself that Granite Grinder. A shame I couldn't afford more, because the colors and builds were great in this theme.

Ah yes, 2009-2010 nostalgia. I ended up collecting most of the Power Miners vehicles over time; was the best thing in the world for 12-13 year old me. The Thunder Driller or whatever it was called (the big drill tank) was probably my favorite. I still have them lying around and they're only really missing a few small pieces. I'm still kind of proud of my self for not destroying them and scattering the pieces to the four corners of the Earth like I did with the other Legos I had when I was young.

Power Miners was the first Lego Theme that I was seriously invested in as a kid. I inherited a massive amount of classic city and space sets from my mom and her brothers so I didn't really buy too many new sets aside from the occasional police cruiser or helicopter. But Power Miners was something that I didn't have anything resembling it at the time and so I became a bit obsessed with it, and many of my friends jumping in on the hype certainly helped that as well. The 8961 Crystal Sweeper was the most important thing in my life for a while.

Rock Raiders was one of the first things that got me into Legos when I was a little kid. Not just the sets, but the game as well. I'm pretty sure I have almost every set they came out with, including the base, transport ship, and heavy miner. The characters looked great and were very unique, the whole aesthetic fit the theme really well, and I loved the concept of space miners with advanced technology. Really love their starship too, kinda wish they had made a set for it at some point, even if it was just a static model meant for display, like a few of the old Lego Star Wars ships.

I didn't grow up with Rock Raiders as I was just getting into Lego at the time those sets were released (had to start with Town and such). The world and characters of that theme seem interesting. Certainly see the Alien visual cues. Power Miners on the other hand was definitely a Lego theme I was really into. Like you said in the video, the functions and colour schemes turned out really well and made for great sets both for play and display. The Thunder Drill,Claw Digger and Crystal King would probably be some of my favourite sets. Just a shame that Lego canned it so soon into its second year, but I guess that's a growing trend with Lego's action themes. *tragically remembers Exo-Force* Looking forward to hearing your take on Bionicle's ancestors in the next episode!

I'm quite aware of the fact that this is super late, but I just wanna say that this series is amazing. As someone planning out a massive Lego project (A custom City with detailed history and lore based upon both real life and Lego (sub)themes that I feel fit) and it's so hard to find someone actually giving in depth overviews of the story and concepts brought by each theme rather than just showing every set released in the theme with no explaination. Sure, I'm not always sticking exactly to the lore of the themes as Lego laid them out (For example the Vikings in my story both fight the monsters and dragons Lego intended, along with being invaders to my Lego Archipelago in a vauge mirror to the Viking invasions of the British Isles) but having the basis Lego set out to structure my stories and history around makes things much easier and gives my setting more of that Lego vibe. Thank you for the good work, and I wish you all the best

I'm actually in the middle of modifying my own into the Rock Raiders colorscheme, since I figured it would be the best of both worlds (the better aesthetic + the better functions). Rock Raiders all the way. I never even had any of the sets growing up but I had the PC game and have since bought some of the sets and Rock Raiders specific pieces to make my own MOCs. If Life On Mars is my favorite Space sub theme, Rock Raiders is right behind in second place. I cant really talk about Power Miners, it came out during my Lego dark age and still to this day is just kind of "meh" to me. It's kind of funny, Lego was suffering through the 90s and early 2000s financially, but that's when I think Lego put out the most interesting stuff. Stuff from about 2004 to maybe 2010 never really interested me. Today they have gotten better (love the Lego Movie sets, probably just becuase of all of Benny's Classic Space themed sets) but to me will never top stuff like G1 Bionicle, RoboRiders, Slizers, Ice Planet, Fright Knights, Insectoids, Exploriens, Life on Mars, Xalax, *cough* Galidor *cough* and Rock Raiders. ...I think I like space sub themes a little too much lol

I was obsessed with Rock Raiders when I was a kid and I played the game a lot. I really enjoyed Power Miners when it came out. Season 1 was excellent but season 2 was awful aside from the lava monster, something I wanted to see back in Rock Raiders as they were in that game along with ice monsters. I'm hopeful that LEGO will revisit the concept again in the future, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I realise I'm commenting on a video from 2017 but I wanna say that the gigantic sawblade-covered deathmachine that is the Power Miners Rock Wrecker has a tiny coffee machine included in the cockpit. Rock Raiders sets were cool, but they didn't have a tiny coffee machine. That said, Rock Raiders had the video game that in my opinion still holds up today as arguably the best Lego game and one of the best games of that particular genre overall.

I have actually collected every power miners set, because I really like the look of them. But the sets where already not being sold anymore when I started collecting so I got a lot of good cheap buys from people who didn't know the value of the sets.
