Very good comparison of two beatiful cars. I got the Lambo a few days ago and was very pleased with the model, until I saw your video and started searching for some mods of the model. On rebrickable I found the Pimp my Countach moc, which has free instructions and only needs 19 extra pieces. You should look it up, even the side intakes are part of this moc. Thanks for your videos and I am looking forward to the next one.

Suggestion, on the front bumper, if you want to use the 1x8 tile, just cut the sticker from the original number in half and put it on each end of the tile. Another modification you can add is on the side skirts, you can invert the wedges and put a 1x6 and a 1x1 plates under them to accurately resemble the countach

Great suggestion! Why didn’t I think of that? 😂

What I did to change the front end on the set was to square off the sides by removing the 1x2 slopes on each side like you did, but then I also removed the 1x6 tile with the sticker and replaced it with a 1x6 plate. Then I placed 2 1x2 slops on the edges of it and put a 1x4 in between them. After that I moved the trans-clear bricks down the bonnet by switching them around with the white 1x1s in front of them. To keep the headlight sticker details I just took the sticker from one side, flipped it upside down and put it on the opposite side so that it still worked. It's hard to explain without pictures, but I think it honestly looks really good. and a lot like the actual car.

Hi, I liked your comparison and I agree with most of your decisions here. How is the hinge for the bonnet fixed on the barnius model? Could you exchange the entire bonnet from the barnius to the speed champions version?
@svensbricks2 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for your comment! The Barneius bonnet is attached with clips halfway down so it’s more stable than the Speed Champs one, doesn’t hinge up at all, it’s fixed. It’s a bit longer but with some modification to the front spoiler (mainly exchanging the plates with studs to something without studs to allow more space) you could swap the bonnets quite easily I believe. Look at the profiles of the different models halfway through the video to see what I mean.

You can put a clear or white round plate with smooth bottom to hold up the spoiler on the Speed Champions Countach

I think if you leave the engine bay loose with the Moc technique on the speed champions car and put in engine detail it would look like the looseness was on purpose

I think the naca duct on the speed champions set could be brought one plate higher by completely removing and redesigning the hinged black grills on top of it. Instead, there could be a 1x2 plate close to the middle of the car, and a 2x2 plate with 2 studs only on one end and the smooth end on top of the air duct. That way, the naca duct would be higher, could be built into the correct shape and having enough room for support on the bottom. Also, the 1x6 tile under the angled air intakes would have to be 1x4 to fit all that. It's really hard to explain, but I hope you understood somehow. I wish I could try it by myself.
@svensbricks2 жыл бұрын
You could well be right there! I’m sure with some complete rethinking/designing of areas that it would be possible
@oz11412 жыл бұрын
I got rid of the two 1X2 tiles and used a 1X1 tile, making the NACA duct bigger.

Finally got my hands on this set, my first and only change currently was changing the direction of the clip pieces the spoiler is held on by to be parallel with one another rather than running horizontally. The Countach irl has thinner posts that hold the spoiler on and at the same time it keeps the spoiler from needing adjusting everytime I pick it up and I sort of wonder how no one designing the set thought of it. Apart from the usual criticisms of the front end, minifigs struggling to fit and side vents, I adore this set. I think it's safe to say despite the flaws it is still an amazing set that perfectly encapsulates one of the most iconic cars ever built in such a small scale and for that I really salute the team behind it
@svensbricks2 жыл бұрын
Nice tip. I immediately made the same adjustment to my spoiler! Makes much more sense as it doesn’t move around now either

For me neither the front of the Lego version nor the vents on the side were an issue. Yes they could have made it squarer at the front and had bigger vents (a mod I’m considering adding to mine) but the real change I think was needed was the sil detailing on the sides of the car. From the box photo LEGO clearly based the design on one specific version of the Lambo, the 1978 Countach LP400 S which had the big V spoiler, the flared wheel arches (both of which are present in the Lego version) but it also had sort of flared out sils. You look at the og Countach and yes the side tuck under nicely, but the ‘78 version clearly flares out. So take the wedge plates on the bottom, and some 1x1s and 1x2s and then put the wedges back upside down this time and bam you’ve got the flared sils which are much more akin to the photo on the box of the 78 LP400 S version!

Honestly, I think it would be hard to improve a lot on the design at this scale. Have you seen the Countach that can be built from the large Porsche 911 Targa? If you’re after accuracy then that model is magnificent
