5:03 I did the same. Massive improvement just using a solid red flat brick. If you look as the original car pic on the box you will see it makes it look more accurate to the real thing as well.

IMO the best stickers are the clear going on to the color surfaces that way the matching is so much better. Have a lot of this series and started on the 8 wide, didn't do any of the 6 wide. Great video and great content.

I cite the Speed Champions Countach, along with Optimus Prime, as the set that got me back into LEGO. I remember walking into a LEGO store for my birthday a couple of years ago, and being amazed at just how accurate they got the design! It helps that the Countach is already a very angular, blocky car lol. The build was exceptionally fun, with the way the rear end came together, I had lots of fun wooshing it around the table like a little kid, and it was overall a shining highlight of my 22nd birthday.

Thank you! Each car build is more time consuming than one would think. Especially if your like me where every 1x1 piece has to line up and feel like you need to hide the side that shows the plastic injection mold insert. And then there are the stickers!

In my opinion the only bad thing about the f1 lm is that the actual car has one seat on either side of the driver’s seat, which the Lego one lacks. But still then I think that it would be hard to do that without making the car look awkwardly wide.

21:58 Not sure if it is like it in the set but you should try it, the real F1 is not a one man show, and it is actually a 3 man show, with two seats behind the driver seat. There is space on the set but I am not sure if two mini figures could actually fit in the back.

Yeah, you’re right! I just realized that I after I filmed this video. Wasn’t expecting those additional seats until I saw all of the details of the real car. Though the LEGO version remains a one man show as no other figs can fit in. Alternatively, you can stuff some animals in those extra seats. It is possible to be a one man / two cat show. 😝

i totally agree the utopia is soo good and so under appreciated, the reasoning for it to be ranked so low was that it was bland but imo it’s very simplistic and perfect the way it is

Another problem with the Utopia is that the driver only fits if he has his helmet on. If you put the hair piece on the driver the canopy doesn't sit down flush.

Yes, that is right. In fact the same problem exists in a lot of the other Speed Champ cars as well. Oh well, I guess our fig will have to shave their head.

My top 5 is: 1. the Ferrari 812 Competizone 2. the Audi Sport Quattro S1 3. the Ford GT 4. the McLaren F1 LM 5. the McLaren Solus GT

Feel you are a little harsh on the Ferrari 512M. Loved how it tried to integrate the V of the engine into the centre part of the car, my favourite to build by far. Absolute cannot argue over the choice of the McLaren F1 as the best. It's a stunner.

6:13 Dom's Charger is the entire reason i got back into Speed Champs. I love it, BUT, they only designed it for his minifig. If you're figure is not bald the roof will not lower properly. Sadly, most of these cars only seat the driver with a helmet and not the neat little hair piece they include, but Dom's Charger is one built just for him.

@@jacobb751 Sadly, the roof is the weakest point. It is so intricate in design that If one piece is out out of place or lose the whole thing comes off. The rest of the car is solid as a tank for play. Try to make sure it is solidly built and slip it into place. Squeeze inward on the outside pieces so it all fits snugly. Otherwise I don't know what to tell you.

I absolutely hate that I missed out on those first two double car sets, even though they're kinda... boring. I think you might have put the little curve round 1x1 bricks on backwards on the Solus GT though, under the arch bricks up front.

I will soon own all of them except for that AUDI. I didn't even know it existed, honestly. Amazing builds on all of them, tho all of mine are slightly modified in general or to fit into my Ninjago collection. Seriously, if you're a Ninjago fan, a lot of these match the ninjas or the color schemes of some of the villains. Worth looking into and having some fun with it. Nooot a fan of those stickers tho, decided to leave all of them off. I'm glad the headlights are being printed and for the Competizione for example, I am making a brick-built yellow stripe. Also, you can fit the minifigure in the Tributo, you just gotta make sure the figure really is sitting fully pressed in and leaning back. But it's so frustrating that it's even an issue to be solved in the first place.

That sounds like fun! I like crossing themes and mixing them together. I wish there were more convertibles in the line up other than the Elva so it’s easier to fit figs in with headgear and all. I guess we would need LEGO to make some new windshields for that.

17:28 I'm surprised to hear your canopy doesn't close with the helmet. I was told this is one of the few models that allows the driver's hairpiece to close. Perhaps the hairpiece that comes with the fig is actually thinner than the helmet 0_o

I think 2022 was the best year overall. I wasn't super excited about the 2023 cars and the 3 new sets shown so far for 2024 feel underwhelming to me :/ the new pieces 2023 introduced are AMAZING though and greatly improved the flexibility with the new 8 wide chassis base and the new lower profile mudguards. I wish there were going to be more cars / options to buy in early 2024 that are more up my alley.

It's crazy how much prices are increased once they're out of stock! The 2020 ones cost 5 times more than the current ones I love that the newer models are generally better. It means Lego keeps improving the design and likely taking feedback from customers

The Pagani Utopia’s rear end wont go up and down if you angle the doors correctly as displayed on the back of the box!

You are right that the doors were not clocked at the exact angle as shown. However, the angle of the doors don’t mitigate the flop unless you were to cheat the 1x2x2/3 slopes inwards allowing the doors to catch underneath their edges.

@@Nick-lg7su the 1x2x2/3 slopes above the rear wheel wells are connected only by one stud. So these can pivot slightly allowing the doors to catch the edges and therefore the rear end not to flop. However this would be illegal in LEGO’s building rules.

My personal pet peeve in this line, not just stickers, but clear back stickers. I have a cat and a dog and every time I placed one of those stickers dirt and hair get under it and it looks horrible. Don’t even bother trying to take them off we all know how bad that goes, wrinkles in the sticker etc.

Yeah, things can get ugly with clear backed stickers. My opinion is that LEGO should do away with them. And never have to apply a clear backed sticker on a transparent piece! If stickers are needed, then it better make the color of the plastic!

I really liked this segment. Thank you. In my opinion the Pagani utopia is the best looking car. Seeing how they succeeded at making curved parts for the utopia, Lego could definitely make a Porsche. Crossing fingers for a Porsche gt3, Ferrari fxx k(or fxx k Evo), Ferrari 488 or sf90, and McLaren P1. The upcoming 2024 bmw m4 gt3 does not look good. It's a disappointment considering how much the 2023 models have improved. Was hoping for at least the same level of detail and realism or better, but Lego took a step backwards. I guess it's hard to imitate the curves of a bmw.

@@thegreenbrick I’ve also recently started to use a hobby knife to cut down certain stickers. It definitely helped with the Mercedes Project One Car. Granted it adds a lot to the build time, but it feels more like a model kit experience like that.

F8 Tributo is coming in waaaaay too low. Canopy problems aside, it remains one of the most sculpted SC to date, with great effort going into creating an actual air intake. Jaguar Fomula E on the other hand is too high on the list. It's... a Formula car, with a short and simple build. The Mercedes AMG F1 has a much more interesting build and a lot more effort in using various elements for shape, and really should be higher.

Few building mistakes, on the solus at the front those curved elements should be flush, the smaller one by one curved corner brick should face the other way. Second one is on the vantage, those curved slopes with air intakes on the side should face the other way
