Named characters in battle packs is probably for several reasons. 1. to pull in people who aren't interested in army building and 2. a named character is more expensive than a generic character this means they can raise the price of the battle but also decrease the price of another set it might have been in. For example the duel on peridea set includes many named characters increasing costs so enoch could have been moved to the battle pack to make the already expensive set a little more affordable

AskMandR: Please discuss this ---- How do you feel about resellers selling the sail barge resealed in the original bags without the minifigs for about $300-$320? Personally I think its a fantastic way to get an amazing looking vehicle then fill it with either your existing minifig collection or even better versions of some of the figures. I may actually end up doing this. $300 for nearly 4000 pieces is great and still gives you $100 allowance to buy figures to fill it with. Even then you are STILL $100 under MSRP.

I'm approaching this from perhaps a unique angle, but my consumption of Lego would definitely slow without a physical copy of instructions. I've made 99% of my sets together with my grandfather. From 2008 through today, and he's 89 right now. I personally feel that a physical copy is good for those with limited vision, and besides that they're good to keep on hand so you don't need an internet connection or charged device to male the set.

Have you played any of the Star Wars video games? Regarding named characters in Battlepacks. I think the weird mixup or lack of foresight could apply to next year battlepack, but Vauhn being in battlepack is absolutely fine. From Lego point to view it's possibly last time they can include him in the foreseeable future, and knowing Lego's set designing schedule, when droid tank was released, that Battlepack was at best just a concept, and most likely not even a thing at all. And when it comes to officers and such, i think its weird Lego tradition to not make battlepack TOO good, but still useful

ASKMandR - Do you think that people purchasing directly from the Lego store should get more VIP/Insider points than those purching online. If you buy in the store you have saved LEGO the postage costs. LEGO stores are normally (or are where I live) the most expensive place to purchase LEGO. The only reason to buy from them is for the Insider Points or GWP, so giving those extra VIP points may make more people to shop at their stores.

With how LEGO handled the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace, I would actually expect to get more Revenge of the Sith sets in 2030 for the 25th anniversary, rather than for the 20th anniversary next year. Honestly the reason why I think they put named characters in battle packs has to do more with reducing the effectiveness of the packs. Now, when we talk army building, for me, I find that 20+ of a singular trooper is pretty good for a medium-sized MOC (Battle droids obviously more). So by putting a named character you're just reducing the effectiveness of the packs and the more you have to buy. Just going off that number 20 if they had 4 normal troopers in the pack you'd have to buy 5 packs. But if you add one named character making it so there's only 3 a pack this now means you have to buy 7 which would put you at 21. There is a whole talk about being a place where they don't fit anywhere else which I can understand. It's just frustrating when it's put in something that is meant to grow your army and you end up with multiple extra useless characters. The most current double battle pack I think is there other way they're trying to get around it with only having three of each rebels an empire. Now obviously we want to see 4 of each where they could've easily just put a pilot for each in which would still make you need to buy seven in order to hit that 20 mark but is a usable character compared to excess named ones.

Not gonna lie when I bought the kashyyyk trooper set as a kid I was always super bothered by the fact that the printing on the visor only took up about half of the space that was molded into the helmet for it. To me it looks ridiculous and that was the first time I was ever annoyed by a troopers printing inaccuracy.
