Although the muted, non-shiny 3P-0 is probably the most screen accurate to A New Hope, this is exactly the kind of set that makes me wish Lego still produced Chrome pieces in various colors. Imagine a statue of the ROTS version of this droid. People would go NUTS

I think the most excitement would be for a chrome UCS Naboo Royal Starship. Although I am 99% sure Chrome won't come back in our lifetimes. For now, Silver Ink (Metallic Silver on Bricklink) is the closest we will get. In fact, I think that close is close enough that a Royal Starship using that color would still sell like hotcakes.

Grievous and chewy are both quite tall characters. Together with 3po I thought they actually machted correctly.

Agreed. I’ve been considering getting Chewie to go with my R2 and this 3PO but the video worried me. Then I looked up pics of the characters together and I’d say they’re totally in scale with each other. Chewie’s well over 2m tall, after all.

Peter Mayhew was 7'3". Anthony Daniels is 5'9". So Peter was 26% taller than Anthony. The Chewbacca figure is 18", C-3PO is 15", so Lego Chewie is 20% taller. So this Lego C-3PO is actually a little too tall.

They really nailed the body shape with this one. The face still needs some work but at least doesn't look like Yoda on coke. I wouldn't mind getting more buildable figures in this scale

For $140, the C-3PO really should have all printed pieces. Also, I would have preferred the R2-D2 & C-3PO to have been released at the same time, instead of the gap in release between them, but that’s just me.

Yes. You realize a base with the same design as C3P0 for R2 would be ridiculously big right? Plus, C3P0 kind of needs that base as he’s very tall with an extremely high center of gravity, meaning getting him to stand upright without the risk of falling over would be near impossible. R2 however is the opposite- short with a very wide base. I get what you’re saying but why give R2 a base that would add $20-30 to the price when it would be completely unnecessary

3P0 needs more support than R2. Plus a sturdy base for R2 would require like half the existing piece count. Not to mention that the middle leg is removable, and he’s supposed to be posable. Stand for R2 makes no sense. Stand for sensitive C3P0 makes sense.

In term's of Pademe's Royal Starship, I have a proposal for a great ROTS set. It's not her Royal Starship, but the J-Type Naboo Star Skiff. It's the one she flies to Mustafar, and I think it would be amazing to get instead of another Battle of Mustafar, unless of course it's a diorama. It would come with Obi-Wan, Anakin, Padme, and maybe even some of the Separatists Anakin slaughtered

Really enjoy all of David's reviews, they're always very well scripted and I like the balance between more off-the-cuff intros/summaries at the end vs. the scripted in-depth portions. Just have to ask why he frequently says things like "there *is* 9 stickers in this set" vs. "there *are* 9 stickers...". The grammar police in my head are crying out every time that happens haha

This set is pretty good, although it would have to be 2 cm taller to be on scale, moreover his stand already add up to the height, so that might be the reason he appears to be a little short. Also he would have to be 1cm wider or R2 1 cm narrower to be in scale in the other dimension

Man this is an incredible review! When the set was first revealed I wasn't too impressed but seeing it next to R2 is perfection. I wonder why LEGO chose to go this route keeping them separate rather than a UCS R2 and C-3PO all in one, I guess just lower barrier to entry?

I think C-3PO and Chewbacca may be in scale since they are 5’9 and 7’6 respectively, putting C-3PO well under Chewbacca’s shoulders.
