Man, I loved this game as a kid. I remember episode 6 being the glitchiest of the episodes. Some of the glitches I encountered were: -Backgrounds not loading -Darth Vader's head tuning invisible if you gave him a top hat -characters not dying when falling into bottomless pits so I would have to restart the game -if you brought a custom character into the fight with palpatine it would break the game just to state a few I remember

I had this game as a kid and its god awful, but that's why I kinda love it. it's an absolute mess. super glitchy, bad framerate, terrible level design, even playing it recently, I've gotten lost or I had no clue where to go on multiple occasions, and platforming is fucking awful, that endor level is the bane of my existence. even after all that, it's still a blast to play.

The expression “This game was my childhood” doesn’t even save this game with nostalgia for me. The frame drops, soft locks, beautiful camera just make the game... totally worth the $80 AUD my 8 year old self paid for the game. I also totally agree with not being able to review this game it just sucks that bad. All I can really say is thank for you just attempting to put together something, not many people cover this game. Honestly as bad as it is the only redeeming quality of this game is that it can be used as a torture device for my mates.

When I was younger I got this game on eBay and thought it was just my copy that was bugged, I guess not Edit: I actually remember that in one of the levels you could play as a ship when you were supposed to be a character. The programmers must have been stupid or something

after blowing up the first death star in free play you were able to change characters when the ending was happening which made it possible to run around the cutscene where everyone is getting the medals and kill everyone in the scene and then after a few minutes it would just freeze lol

If you go into the level door, select freeplay but then don't choose a character you get access to the freeplay menu in the hub... unfortunately this works with ship levels too. Switch to a ship and you get stuck. Save like this and you're fucked. The one upside is you get a much closer look at the ships than intended as they're huge in the hub and the camera is zoomed out in the levels. But then again the models are really ugly so that's still not much of a positive.

I got this game with my DS for my 9th birthday. I didn’t mind it that much honestly at first. But not even a year later our family got a Wii for Christmas and I got Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. It was then that I found out what I was missing. I was completely blown away by the Original Trilogy levels. Something that I was robbed of by the DS game.

I think the only things I liked about this game is that certain parts of the character customizer changed walk animations, it had more parts and unique parts compared to "regular" LSII's customizer, you can swap to anyone you unlocked in freeplay (as well as collecting parts for other characters you can play as) and you can cheese the stud collecting by faffing about in Freeplay, then just returning to cantina. However, the fact you lose studs when you die in the hub, ghost characters still being uber expensive without granting immunity like other games, aforementioned performance issues, lack of levels and bonus content (which makes sense) and the wonky cutscenes...

There are 2 different versions of this game. Most people have played the first glitch ridden release, which is the one you're playing here. I bought 3 copies of the original DS cart, and they were all the glitched release, so I eventually downloaded the rev 1 version of the rom and played it on my softmodded Wii U. It's like playing a different game, almost all the bugs and glitches are fixed and I can finally 100% complete this games after 15 years!

8:18 Fun Fact about this cutscene When I was a kid I got curious, and made my 3 custom character slots 1:1 with how Lando and his two “guards” looked and played the Cloud City level. It played like normal but then as soon as I crossed the door to get to the Falcon, IT PLAYED THE CUTSCENE AGAIN

I was pretty young when I had this game and I loved it to bits. I didn't even really care or notice most of the glitches lmao. What bothered me the most was not being able to get all the minikits on the Hoth level (the one where you had to go in the chute with a small character) and one minikit on the Endor speederbike mission just never appeared. Got it once somehow but never again.

The one thing this version has above the original I would say, is the custom character, this version gives you more options than the original one, you can pick parts from a menu rather than just swap them forward or back not knowing what's next, you can test your custom character in the cantina, the tube isn't in the way tinting the colors of the pieces while picking them. I kinda wish I could actually have the DS custom characters in the propper home console version. Because the full home version is quite obviously the better package.

5:39 If you turn on the "Host Wireless" option the bosses health will disappear and you can kill them really quickly. This should work with all bosses. You can also use it to clip through walls and gain infinite height as well.

you are not wrong, but not exactly right either it gave you a lot of cool options but if you just scrambled the character and picked the right part at the right time, you could create characters that weren't supposed to exist and would freeze the game when walking through doors with them.

My friends and I loved this game back then, we played the multiplayer quite a lot and I remember when I got the complete saga for DS I was disappointed that it wasn't as sandboxy as this game or that the cutscenes weren't fully 3D. I knew that it was buggy but it was still a lot of fun.

Two things I liked better in this version of Lego Star Wars than any that came after or the main console versions: The character editor and the lightsaber combat. Lightsaber combat just went for a simple 3 hit combo in other versions of Lego Star Wars, but in The Original Trilogy DS you could actually pull off longer combos if you timed your attack presses. Pressing the attack button (if I'm not mistaken, it was Y) quickly and untimed made you do a simple left swing, right swing, then down swing. But press the attack button at the moment your attack animation finished and you could make this very long attack combo complete with twirls and wide swings. The character creator felt very freeform, with character abilities stuck to character parts, rather than choosing a template to build with. I managed to mix and match various abilities when I created characters, so I eventually had Han Solo's jump ability (where he would do a dive role and let of a rapid series of blasts) while using a lightsaber and force powers. Besides that there are two weird elements in the game that I never figured out. If you completed the game it had this "sandbox" level with random elements strewn about in a Tatooine environment. There was literally nothing to do in it. I could never 100% the game, as bugs would prevent me from doing it. The biggest one being no way to unlock the Palpatine battle level for freeplay. I remember kid me scowering the dark corners of blocky message boards and forums to find rumours on how to unlock the level, butt never managed to do it.

You can play as the ship in the level select hub. If you save and quit in this state, the next time you load the game you will be in the main cantina area of the hub, unable to enter the level select area and permanently soft locked.

I could never finish this game as a kid because I came across a game breaking glitch. I was playing the endor speeder level on free play and decided to quit the level and go back to the hub. But when I got back to the hub I was still on the speeder and was now stuck flying around the ceiling. Every time I turned the game on after this it automatically put me as the endor speeder in the hub. And was unable to play any of the levels.

I for some reason remember this game fondly playing on my 2ds when I was 8 or 9 but probably haven’t played it since I was 11 or 12. I remember playing the level with Papletine the most. But looking back I remember the glitches. I always thought it was a weird game but I probably wouldn’t get why I enjoyed now about 7 years since I last played it.

In elementary I traded a $5 watch for a copy of this game, didn't realize I had gotten it so cheap because of how buggy it was. And also the main save file was "bricked" with a ship stuck in the cantina lobby, so there was no way to play any levels

Pretty sure this is the game that caused me to develop my masochistic tendencies later in life. I was unintentionally torturing myself putting hours into this game. Then I lost my save and had to do most of it again. Then I eventually got sick of it and just used a code to unlock everything. I still own this piece of crap. Kid me should have accidentally gotten it lost in my parents old car years ago but he didn't know any better.

Never beat this game after dozens of resets and hours as a kid, back when it released I loved it and was confused on how broken it was I remember this one mini kit on the cloud planet level I spent 2 hours trying to get behind a laser wall just to learn years later that I hit all the needed switches Except it just doesn’t unlock, ever, so it’s never been grabable

This game is one of the few ones that works near-perfectly on the hardware but glitches out on emulators. At least, some emulators bug out with some work fine with it. I've had issues on DeSmuME but not MelonDS.
