Always wanted the 2006 version as a kid and I’ve considered buying it even today. But I’m really hoping the UCS set is a banger so I won’t have to go eBay hunting lol

I think the UCS version will be massively oversized since it’ll have thousands of pieces

I vastly prefer the 2006 set. It just feels like you get so much more. A larger and more accurate Sail Barge, the Desert Skiff, and the Sarlacc Pit. The minifigure selection is better as well, having most of the key characters of that scene. And lastly it has that iconic old LEGO Star Wars feel. I'm grateful for the 2013 set as it gave us rare minifigures like Max Reebo (that we'd probably never get otherwise) but it's just a worse set overall.

Absolutely! This set is so unique. Each build feels complete and necessary with thought put it. Not like now where there's random builds thrown into a set for fluff. Or require a DLC set to complete the scene.

Nice comparison! I like the 2006 build more but the minifigure are definitely better imo. Could you do the 2003 palace vs the 2012 palace?
