The price is outrageous, but with that being said, this is still a quality diaroma. I grew up on the Phantom Menace and have been clamoring for anything podracing related. This checks that box

I bought this, I like the quote, I'm nostalgic for the scene, and I want more prequel dioramas. I sort of wish it had the new soundbrick to make up for the lack of figures.

That may have been intentional, to make it feel more dynamic like it's coming off the diorama

I think I have the same problem with this that I had with the Death Star Trench diorama. There's little sense of speed, and it would have been fun to see either built with aggressive horizontal detailing to suggest motion blur.

Think this looks great, although i definitely agree that Anakin's pod looks a little off proportion-wise. Love how the connection points to the terrain are hidden well also. As with the other diorama sets, I might consider getting it, but only at a 20 or 30% discount!

Man, the prices of these dioramas are just ridiculous at this point. That other one about Endor was already insane, and while this one looks a little better by comparison, I cannot say that suddenly justifies it. I loved the races as a wee lad, enjoyed the movie before it became cool/reasonable to dislike it. But what you get here is close to nothing. If you remove the racers, which could be four bucks a piece on their own, all you have left is a thin plate featuring a wall and an arch. The prints do not excuse anything, for stickers are still included. You cannot even say that the prints we have are rudimentary betterments, for each set produced by Lego these days always seems to choose its rules and price at random. And nobody can tell me that the license is worth that much. All of this is a big shame, for I do love the Lego sets at times, especially Star Wars. But I have hardly bought any Lego sets in recent years, simply because they have gotten too expensive, and I do not understand how common folk are supposed to afford them. Most people I know only buy Lego anymore whenever there is a huge sale going on, and all of the fun has just been sucked out as a result. But regardless of all that, the review is appreciated, JANG.

The problem I think is that the "rules and price" *are* kinda set at random, in that they are chosen before a designer has even had a chance to design the set. So you can imagine in this case the designer was asked to make an $80 podrace diorama and ig theres only so much you can do here before it gets cluttered so he stopped at this.

got this on my "maybe later" list since i think it looks very nice and the pod race scene was one of the highlights of the prequels. but it is too expensive imo, so will wait for a good deal on it.

I think you are right about the perspective with sebulbas pod being too big.. It's meant to be looked at that angle with his pod being closer to the observer. At least that's the first thought I had when I built this

I just bought my first non-lego brickset. I am tired of display sets that is covered in stickers, then there is the price which is a premium without the premium quality. I would like this set as i grew up with the podracer game, but at half the price and printed parts

i've seen some good photos taken from the front of sebulbas podracer and it 100% looks like some kind of force perspective and it actually works really well, a lot better than the side on view

I’m gonna say Sebulba’s podracer bits got closer to each other when going through the arch. It also could definitely be a perspective thing, but I recall those things moving around quite a bit.

I wouldn't pay more than 30 bucks honestly. It would be cool if they'd make all the pod racers in the style of speed champions cars, with each set with its pilot, for $25. That would be awesome

The attachment is really well hidden, I also do like the look of the pods, feel like it should've been a bit longer so the pod didn't hang off over the edge but oh well, definitely a nice set tbh.

I agree with JANG, I think there was an attempt at forced perspective here so I personally don't think it matters whatsoever that Sebulba's podracer doesn't fit through the arch.

I really struggle with value on this one once someone pointed out that it’s basically 2 poly bags and a base… even at $10 per vehicle and $30 for the terrain I can’t see paying over $50.

I have so much nostalgia for this scene of the movie, it's a very tempting set. However, the price on these Dioramas are SO out of my range for what you get. That said, I had the old Podracer Mini 4485 set, and this feels like an amazing upgrade of that.

Would've liked a way to connect it to the Lars homestead GWP diorama but oh well. I'll figure that out on my own if I get it (and put Jabba's palace somewhere in there too) The way the arch is turned is great, and this is my favorite microscale rendition of Anakin's pod out of the 4 they've done. Sebulba's I'd say is tied with the planet set.

I like this but I would've preferred if Anakin's podracer had been fully visible from the standard view. I like the arch but they should've made it the diorama longer to move both podracers along or space them apart

Maybe sebulba came in from outside the frame, I think anakin was forced to fly through this terrain because sebulba bashed him into it

I think the biggest reason people ( myself included ) feel that this is more overpriced than other Dioramas is because it includes no figures at all. All the other dioramas ( except the Trench run which was way more detailed ) include multiple figures which adds a lot of value for people

Only problem I have with small builds is that it's a heap of teeny tiny pieces. Great for detail, not great for my hands. Also while the price per piece count seems alright-ish to me, it doesn't when considering size. These aren't large bricks; it probably takes the same amount of plastic as a $50-$60 SW set. Playing devil's advocate, I can only imagine the reason dioramas like this cost so much more is because the amount of advanced design work that goes into them. They probably take a long time with a lot of thought and iterations before settling on a final design, unlike simpler sets.

Half price for me to even consider this set. The part for me that messes up this set is the rock arch is far too narrow. The arch was a lot bigger in the movie relative to the sizes of the pod racers.

The worst scene. 12 minutes of absolutely nothing. No character development. Doesn’t move the story forward and none of it was real. Anyone who likes this scene is the reason the franchise sucks now. You don’t watch Star Wars for pop corn passive entertainment. Star Wars is a galactic brained entity which requires a high IQ to understand. The pod race undermined that and made it a dumb kids movie. I am joking but I got you good and about 95% of you actually agree with me. You guys are the problem
