Correction: those mini Japanese sets were actually released in the US too. What makes the ones in the video unique is the Japanese box art with the Kabaya logo.

The Japanese version is the Western version split in 2 though. I.e Slave I came with Obi Wans‘s Starfighter, the x-wing with vaders tie

Weird! The lego star wars podracing bucket is a super weird set, but it's well known so makes sense it didn't make it on the list :D

I've actually done the clone trooper box challenge back in 2008 at lego world Zwolle in the Netherlands. Never knew that this box would be worth so much at the moment
@fivelonelyclonesКүн бұрын
Did you get to keep one? I heard the stores either let the kids keep them or just straight up threw them away after the event. I’m not sure if that’s true tho
@jordymulder3181Күн бұрын
@fivelonelyclones nope, in my case. When I finished the challenge I got a golden 4x4 lego piece (the same one you see at the Lego masters TV series) , they of course wanted to save the clones for other children to also be able to do the challenge. They ware just standard clone troopers anyways, what happened to the boxes im not sure. I guess many ware thrown away after the challenge but in some cases the people who ware hosting the challenges saved the boxes, that's probably why there's still some boxes around today

@jordymulder3181Күн бұрын
@fivelonelyclones I remember it to be pretty wonky, it walked. But not like an AT-AT would actually walk like in the movies, it more curled side to side, love all your videos btw, true lego star wars fans 🫶

The 3 japanese sets you mentioned were all available in the US as polybags in 2004. I got the tie interceptor and the xwing as gifts from family. The printed pieces they have are very nice.

I could have made an honorable mention of the first version of the Malevolence ship, released in 2009 3 years before the normal 2012 set This 2009 version was part of Lego's R2-D2 Quest promotion, where they distributed the official instructions, with the pieces in 3 bags of parts, and the construction resembled a diorama ships like the one we have today, and considering one of the secret Lego Star Wars sets

We actually got those mini sets, though the X-Wing was paired with the TIE Advanced, and the Slave 1 was Jango colors paired with Obi Wan's Jedi Starfighter Actually used to have both those Mindstorms sets as a kid. The other stuff though I never heard of at all

The technic line gets too much hate, they're a product of their time and Technic as a whole was still focused on functions and letting you see the moving parts. It's not like today's technic super cars where everything is covered in panels and trying to be realistic.
