You should have pionted out all the major differences between the live-action and the clane wars version. It is actually a bunch of differences between the clone wars and live action variant. This model has all the clone wars details correct. The back side of the tower bridge has a simpler design. It has 3 angles on the front side of the tower bridge, not 4. The large red hanger opening is angled, not flat. It has 8 engines, not 10, and the top ones are plased a little different too. From a front side view, the tower is almost 90°, and the live action variant has much more angle running up to the bridge. There are also a lot of smaller differences, like where the republic logo is placed and the surrounding areas of the turrets. I myself think the live action variant has a more masculine look and has some better-looking angles overall.

Since the UCS Venator came with a micro gunship, I think a nice touch to make the Venator live up to its role as a ship carrier is making a bunch of micro ships such as more gunships, arc-170s, y-wings, etc.

This set is absolutely gorgeous. Such a shame about the stickers and Rex mini figure. When a set is this expensive, there’s simply no excuse for those flaws. I really think there should be no stickers on any 18+ sets, especially when over the $200 price point. I’ll definitely be attempting to replace the stickers with brick built details.

That’s how Lego works now. Incredible prices, low quality bricks, insane amount of stickers and more often a not really good-looking set. This is an exception in terms of design and quality. But as you said it, the stickers ruining it. And ofc the astronomal price tag, which is just rediculous.

@Spacejuno There isn’t really space for an interior because the majority of the interior is either too small to fit something inside of, used for structural integrity, or wouldn’t be accessible from the outside. So it’s understandable why they didn’t include one.

Love the passion David. I’m a huge Clone Wars fan myself and am so excited to get my hands on this awesome set. I do feel LEGO could have done more to include a miniature or possibly minifig scale interior in the rear of the Venator (which would be a cool video David for you to add one) and the three-piece Gunship could have been a more detailed miniature build, but besides the Captain Rex minifig (which has many issues), I am most disappointed that LEGO didn’t print the Republic logo. That said, very cool to get the 20th anniversary brick in the set… I’m glad that’s printed.

I actually prefer stickers on 6x6 tiles because they cover up the tiles' matte finish, which would otherwise look out of place next to the other LEGO pieces. I've always loved these UCS sets, but I never found a reason to justify spending that much money on something that would mostly only be good for display. But I think I might get this one! The Clone Wars (and Ahsoka, in particular) really was crucial to making me the person I am today. If it hadn't been for that, I don't think I would be in nearly as good a place mentally as I am now. And this set just looks so good that I think I can justify getting this one! Also, the fact that they put screenshots from an animated TV show on the box of an 18+ set shows just how highly regarded The Clone Wars is! I'm thinking about integrating this set into a giant diorama of the final two scenes of Victory and Death!

While I would love the idea of being able to swap this ship between it's TCW and ROTS versions, the republic fleet symbols are much farther down the nose of the ship on the ROTS version so they would have had to find a way to be able to move those around as well as swapping out the bridges.

I have a UCS Venator! Took me about 3 days to put together, and needless to say I LOVE IT!!! Theres not a day that goes by that I dont just stare at her. Even got a lighting kit for the Venator and it just brought the vessel to life! To me, it was worth the price tag for arguably the best looking star destroyer in Star Wars.

The Lego designers themselves said that it's impossible for them to print on 6x6 tiles without the hole in the middle, like on the specifications card. They said if they could have printed if without that, they would've.

Plates in clips is illegal, tiles have always been legal. They are a different shape than plates and don't stress the clip.

Yeah the mold was changed recently to allow that since tiles don’t have as much depth as plates. Also, the dark red dye has been reformulated so the pieces shouldn’t be weak anymore!

Interesting that Lego went back on their statement of not putting highly desirable minifigures behind high paywalls. They'll wax lyrical about their values when it suits them, but when they see an opportunity to make more money all that high-minded dogma goes out the window.

The UCS Star Destroyer was the second UCS set I bought - the first was the UCS Millenium Falcon, and the first set I bought after my 'dark ages'. Initially I liked the ISD, because it's a very iconic starship design... buuuuuuut I saw some great MOCs knocking the official Lego UCS out of the park. So I started the big project of collecting and building the ISD Intimidator (the ISD that got rammed by another ISD beeing pushed by a Hammerhead cruiser of the Rebel Alliance in Rogue One). Now, this custom UCS Star Destroyer sits on a dresser in my living room next to my TV set, beeing 1,5 meters long and ca. 0.95m wide on the engine section, made out of almost 20000 pieces I salvaged over the course of several months, took me over a week to sort the pieces in roughly 500-1000 pieces steps according to Charles Andersons build instructions. And then I built this massive and super detailed thing in almost 2 weeks, since I had to constantly manage space, half my living room was occupied with bags full of sorted pieces and built sections of the vessel and it's main frame. Soooo I tore down the UCS ISD not long after... But I have to say, after the gunship beeing on the 'meh'-side, I liked the UCS Razor Crest... and the Venetor looks great. There are stolen MOCs of the vessel out there, which made me think about getting one, but their design was flawed, missing hull and engine sections, the latter beeing very flimsy... so this new UCS apparently is the thing. But I don't have a proper space to display this... the Intimidator is simply too expensive (please don't ask what it cost to get the pieces for that😅), and the pieces could fill a large box bigger than the big UCS sets. Sooo tearing down the Intimidator and probably swapping it on a seasonal basis - I thought about that - would be a lot of work. But I guess I will find a solution. This ship is simply too gorgeous to miss it out, but I will admit, that I already tore down many of the bigger UCS sets due to space issues. Already have a big problem with finding a proper space for the UCS Imperial Shuttle, which I got from the after market... Great review, man!

While I will eventually get this set, I think the biggest thing ruining my excitement is the price. Ideally, the price would be $500 to $550, that seems a little too good to be true, but even though it was 2002, it was also only $300 for the first Imperial Star Destroyer, 10030, and it was 3096 pieces, a number of them being some of those larger plates, and it remained that way for over 5 years before getting phased out. I also made sure to buy the UCS Landspeeder on day one back in 2022 because $200 for an 1890 piece set (half of which were a fairly uncommon color) was definitely worth it, and thankfully I did because the price jumped up $40. I would stomach $600, that feels like the proper compromise because I know that prices continue to rise, but that extra $50 is a bit of a downer. Also I'm going to have to find a way to fix that tile and clip situation on the bridges because even if it's been a thing for about 10 years now, such a connection is not acceptable. There is not a doubt in my mind that even though I never plan to take apart this ship, those clips will be warped forever, I don't care if the design of the clip is "meant to tolerate it" these days, I deny such claims. I'm sure there's a way to do it with 2x2 center brackets and some clear plates in between the tiles, there has got to be a better way than this. Still, I'm happy to see such a set has been made, and it will make a fine addition to my collection when I feel it's right to pick up. Right now, I'm looking for May 4th as the goal. October is when VIP tends to do something with double points and promos, I've still got a few sets I want, that will help boost my rewards and those can go towards the Venator, even though it will hamper the double points on Star Wars sets that will likely be happening at the same time, about $500 will still end up resulting in about a $40 reward, and that's not even including what other goodies will be available with a large purchase, too.
