I used LEGO parts to create a large-size car suspension and steering system. Usually, it's unclear foe us to know how a car combines steering control with the steering wheel and power control with the throttle pedal.
In fact, this part of the car's structure needs to simultaneously meet three conditions: the differential function, steering with the steering wheel, and shock absorption.
In this video, I will demonstrate how to step by step improve this system, starting from allowing two tires to spin asynchronously, then using universal joints to ensure that power transmission is not limited to a straight line. Next is adding shock absorption, and finally, using linkages to achieve steering wheel control of the tire's direction.

1:06 Adding Differential
2:11 Adding U-Joint
3:08 Adding Shock Absorber
3:55 Adding Steering Wheel
4:34 Final Demo
Whether you are a LEGO enthusiast, a mechanical hobbyist, an engineering student, or just someone interested in novelty, I hope this video brings you some joy or inspiration!

Cool, but not very stable since the wheel is only being held by the suspention spring. I know its difficult to combine suspention, steering and stability while the wheels are also driven by a motor. But cool custom differential and universal joints!

Hey cool video! how does the differential work/ what does it do?

When u make a turn, the outer wheel rolls faster than the inner one. When these wheels are connected to a motor, to prevent one of them from sliding on the ground, you use a differential, so they can go a different speeds while being powered by the same motor. It just has one downside, when one of the wheels is in the air, all of the power gets directed to that wheel, while the other one on the ground stays still.
