In support of Gold Coast Railroad Museum in Miami, Florida and the Florida East Coast Railway Society I present the FEC 153 ALCO Pacific 4-6-2 steam locomotive in LEGO!
The My Own Creation was completed early September 2019 using 700+ parts. The design process involved the use of LEGO Digital Designer and stud.io for render and instructions. Bricklink allowed for the purchase of needed elements inaccessible elsewhere.
As the theme of a "Labor Day Hurricane" was relevant, it was imperative this engine would be done to remember an important constituent of Florida's history. This was THE engine that tried to get Keys folks out of a brutal Category 5 Hurricane. This engine sits in the Gold Coast Railroad Museum as a piece registered in the National Register of Historic Places. Now while the 153 handled the rescue train for the Keys in the 1935 Hurricane, one must not forget Hurricane Dorian's impact on the Bahamas and we continue to #PrayForBahamas.
In order to share Florida's rich history and the rich history of bygone Miami railroading, the LEGO FEC #153 MOC will be brought to numerous places. I will call the educational tour #153GrandTour and take this locomotive to GFLUG layouts, LEGO related venues, and railroad related venues across the state and my confines for the foreseeable future.
