Yeah, it’s like the panel got replaced but wasn’t matched with the paint because it was likely just cheaper to get an unpainted replacement instead of a painted one or to paint it manually

The vibe i get is that Solar Tress is what you get when Sunroof says "hang on, i gotta put some pants on for this" I always flinch a bit at partsforming, but frankly at the scale you're committing to, it makes sense. Besides, bigger hands flying in from the power-up trailer is basically a transformers tradition! I think if the trailer had an "equipment mode" it should be a hammock or sun chair somehow 😅

Also I think for the autobots of student scissors: gridlock is the overall leader, with sunroof being the second in command, but the one how tends to lead the fight, against the decpticons of t-bone’s team, while gridlock acts on the sidelines, only fighting when he has to against pileup and other combiners

Very Ultra Magnus/Armada Prime for this little guy. The way the combined mode’s hands attach makes me think of a combined Megazord from Power Rangers SPD, flying out of the trailer to slam into place on the new arms.

To be honest I wasn't sold on Sunroof at first with his fat-looking torso, but it ended up being an Energon Optimus "Fatimus Prime" situation where the base bot has to shoulder the proportion issues for the sake of the super mode. So I understand.

You said around 2:32, when you were comparing Sunroof to Donut, that Sunroof is a "better fit for your style". Does this mean you plan to remake/revamp Donut at some point to bring him in line with your aforementioned style? Also i love the super mode.
