I loved the result, mainly because they decided to make it as a micro-scale 3D town, and because minifigure is also painted in van Gogh style.

That is such a neat set. I had no intention on buying it initially, due to having too many other sets I plan on buying, but I might have to pick it up now.

What your seeing is not a 3 dimensional painting, but the actual scene that Van Gough was looking at when he painted the Starry Night, up on the hill painting away with the village below him. The painting, is actually the canvas the mini figure is painting.

My Granddaughter started this 2 days ago and only has the Frame and Cypress to go. She loves building Legos and this is the ultimate as she is doing this for me as Vincent is my Favorite artist and Starry Night is my favorite of his paintings. Im amazed at this rendition and this tribute the painting And amazed at her ability to assemble this thing at 10 y/o.

absolutely fantastic. even without the frame and backdrop, there sees to be a lot of potential for sweeping, scenic sets, there is enough depth where they could free stand, like beef-upped holiday reindeer vignette set from last year.

We just built this set for the holiday. I won't be hanging on a wall as it's just too fragile. The front sections extend so far off the canvas that they are prone to coming off easily. Also, when placing on a table or shelf there is only one support peg for one of the front sections. The other side has no support. I will be reinforcing it with black lego bricks. I've considered glue only because this is a beautiful display piece and one you wouldn't want to be destroyed. Really fun build and a great set asides from the lack of support for the village, countryside and tree.

I just finished building this and it was a ton of fun. I had to build it in a well lit area because especially with the blue plates that made up the background there were 4 different shades of blue. The two lighter ones can start to look very similar if not in a well lit area.

Wow, this rally is a cool set. I wasn’t sure I was sold on this, but now I think I want to collect these. I am far from an art connoisseur, but I can imagine Dali’s Clocks painting and Monet’s Water Lillies just to name a couple being turned into art sets like this. It will be interesting to see what they do.

Just got mine today. I'm building it a little out of sequence, building the base and sky first, after the mini figure and easel. This is because I'm letting a neighbor's son help and I wanted to get the monotonous parts done first. Won't be able to get back at it for a few days, and I'm pretty anxious to watch the scene unfold. Great kit, so far.

It looks amazing. And the 3d is a nice touch. So the swirl is actually souls going to the afterlife. Vincent had a fascination with death and what comes after. He did spend a chunk of time in a mental institution and that is where he dreamed up Starry night as he pondered death and the afterlife.

This looks super nice to see live compared to images. Now does it sit on something to where it can stand like that or can you actually frame it on the wall similar to the art sets? The Van Gough minifig along with his palette and brush look awesome too. This gives potential for more 3D art ideas sets done by other famous artists. My main concern is the price as I'm hoping it's only $199.99 at release. Great job and it at least has me pulled in interest wise.

Wow what an amazing set! I'm definitely getting it to add to my collection! I really like your channel and watch your videos regularly. One little point of critique: the English pronunciation of the Dutch name Van Gogh. I know its impossible for non-natives to get it pronounced correctly, still hearing this name butchered is kinda sad. Nevertheless, great video and channel, keep it up!
@unicornfoal2 жыл бұрын
I was just about to comment on his butchering of the name too. I'm Australian, but lived in the Netherlands as a teenager, and though I can't pronounce Van Gogh like a Dutch person, I've always figured at least "van goff" is close enough to be acceptable. Where does the "van go" version even come from!?

Howdy folks. We just opened up this set and are little confused by the way the (many!) parts are organized in the bags. Some bags are duplicated; for instance, there are two bags labelled "6" with the number having a white outline. Then there are two other "6" bags with the number not having an outline. I looked in the instruction book and they don't seem to draw a distinction between using the two differently labelled bags. So when I get to the part in the instructions for the "6" section, do I just dump out _all_ the 6 bags? Or are they supposed to be used differently Any help is appreciated.

I think it looks great from the front perspective, but 'ooooh', the side does not look very good in my opinion. It's waaaay too deep, but I may change my mind when seeing it first hand. Probably not a set for me though.

So im currently in the process of building this set, however i have one minor concern. Im worried that if i hang this piece, theres one section that isnt supported, the bottom right section that holds the Church and Village. i noticed the only thing holding it in place, is the double stud rows of out facing black 1x4 bricks. With the section pushed onto them, but there's nothing underneath supporting this section if it were to be hung. So can anyone tell me if they've had any issues of this section falling off after being hung, or if there is more support added onto it later on? Im currently on Step 5 of 9. Or does that double row offer enough support to keep gravity from pulling it off the wall?
