More historically known as the Second Battle of Kharkov. This battle was an Axis counter-offensive to eliminate the Soviet units in the Izium Bridgehead that took place in the month of May.
At the beginning of the battle, Semyon Timoshenko, the Russian commander began his offensive against the German Sixth Army under General Fedor von Bock. The Soviets had managed to drive the Germans back from the gates of Moscow several months earlier and had confidence about liberation the city of Kharkov. However the German Sixth Army along with the aid of the frequent counterattacks by the 1st Panzer Army as well as several airstrikes by the Luftwaffe had managed to create a strong pincer movement and successfully cutting off the Soviet troops. The battle cost the Soviets nearly 300,000 lives and half that number taken as P.O.Ws while the Germans had only around 20,000 lives.
This battle played an important role in the German defeat at Stalingrad and their downfall on the Eastern front.

obsidian arrow10 not unusual to find Germans carrying ppsh41's cos they found them more reliable than Mp40's . many archive photos/ film show this as well as Russians carrying/ using German weapons.

Joseph Gaming because they were produced & issued in large numbers especially if you include earlier mp38, mp40i mp41( in reasonable numbers ) until the appearance of stg 43 & 44 assault rifles. there was even an mp40 with 2 magazines on a sliding rail!

There was 3 attacks on the Kharkow. First one : Germans took the city. Second one : Russians tried to take it back, but they weren't success. And, finally, the third : Russians retook the city. So if you don't know history, don't blame the owner of the video in your knowledge.

Germans won this battle three times.. Third time being known as manstiens miracle... Only reason it was fought three times is because the Germans had to pull out to solidified their lines... And BTW 9/10 wermacht troops killed in ww2 was by the red army! Look it up

MasterLegoboy2001 captured ppsh41 were popular with Germans cos they were reliable & higher cyclic rate of fire. many archive photos & film show them in use. Russian s also used many captured German weapons.
