Even their eye movements were in sync. So controlled and beautiful. Exquisite. Like incredibly complex clockwork dolls. I couldn’t take my eyes off them. So lovely and mesmerising and other worldly.

@amandapittar93982 жыл бұрын
@@saristaa1 goodness, how could you tell? I was even watching their feet movements, their whole bodies were moving together. It was an astonishing performance. There was no repetition, the whole dance sequence was learned as a whole. That’s nearly seventeen minutes of dance, in duet, from head to toe for nearly all of it. Astonishing. Not even European ballet demands such exacting facial expressions as well as body movements. That level of control needed takes years and years of practice. I can only praise and be in awe.

@@amandapittar9398 Their arms aren't at the same heights. Their hands turn to different degrees. One puts one foot too far forward while the other seems too eager to change movements. I was very fortunate to be in Bali for a cple of months in 1972. I was 21yrs old. I stayed at "Muries Lasman" not sure of spelling. It had small units side by side built in a circle . It was surrounded by a tall private fence for security. The owners daughter was Murie who did her chores on a large concrete platform unded a vast palmtree roof in the centre of the propery. She would go round every night and bless each room wit inscence and pray. Outside this domain was a small side street that lead to a concert arena and I fell asleep listening to Balinese music and beautiful dancing girls telling a story thru dance. It was called Ramiani. Once again, not sure of spelling. I will never forget.it was magic. I'm 71 now.

The story this dance is based in is taken from Smaradahana (Balinese/Javanese: ᬓᬓᬯᬶᬦ᭄ᬲ᭄ᬫᬭᬤᬳᬦ), a 12th century poem which is a Javanese adaptation of the myths surrounding the incineration of Kamadeva and his wife Rati by Lord Shiva.
