Same thing happened with Kai. Brown hair is recessive which is why his parents could both have black hair and he could have brown. Likely one grandparent on each side had brown hair.

to be fair, Wu has blonde hair, meaning that Garmadon has the gene for blondeness, and if Misako had the blonde gene as well (even if it's dormant), there is indeed a chance that their child could have blonde hair, it's not a super high one, but it exists
