I think the anime sacrifices some humor in the manga to create more tension and darkness. But I really like plot rearrangement, giving some character more spotlight like Rouis and Deshico (which I really like the anime version of him.) Except my boy Jack 😭 He just appeared like only 1 scene.

Accurate depiction of pinnipeds, or their weasel land relatives like otters and ferrets, in general. They have exactly two modes: Adorable like you wouldn't believe and 'bout to f*ck yo sh*t up. And it toggles like a switch. There is no in between. Just straight from one to the other with zero warning. One moment cutie patootie, the next moment cold blooded slasher movie villain. It is for THIS REASON that if you come across a seal, sea lion, or walrus... or otters of any kind for that matter... out in the wild... ...keep your distance. They're adorable to watch but they can, will, and HISTORICALLY HAVE, seriously f*cked people up when they get fooled by the cute and forget the other part exists. Walruses and elephant seals in particular have a known annual kill count.

Love the deeper meaning here. The sea is the oldest ecosystem on earth and remains the most dangerous, the most diverse too. Charles Darwin once said that the sea, because of how dangerous it is, has the greatest about of biodiversity and where evolution is more prevalent. It makes sense they wouldn't care about land laws about carnivores and herbivores. The sea is such a clusterfck that such notions are invalid. It truly is a survival of the fittest and they have come to just accept it.
