It really is striking how different Hisao is if you end up on Emi's route. It's the only route where _he_ really grows as a person and a character. In all of the others, his lack of an anchor to his life is never truly confronted, and it leads to harm of others or himself. He has to prove that he truly has something special to offer in the other routes, just being who he is is _not_ enough. But with Emi he gets that anchor - trying to minimize his heart's effect on his life. And because his life doesn't revolve around Emi, it's so much healthier for the both of them.

Y'know, I fully agree that Hisao and Emi are the most healthy (lol) couple. The most freaky is Hisao and Lily, if only because basically everyone in the fandom agrees that Lily's "healthy appetite" could easily lead to a menage a trois with Hanako (also, it's extremely obvious that Hanako starts falling for Hisao in Lily's route, as well as how she slowly becomes more independent without Lily helicoptering around her, making this the only route where another love interest is left noticeably better off despite _not_ hitting any milestones).

I stan my healthy runner couple Hisao x Emi Also I'm so glad Hanako in Lily's route learns to become more independent. Makes the character feel that more real when they just do their own shit, also I would just feel bad because I did Hanako's route before Lily lol
