We are back on road and this time it is a trip to the remote Zanskar Valley.
Instead of the traditional route via Kargil, we took the new road from Leh to Padum that opened only in October 2020.
After arriving at Leh, we directly headed towards Lamayuru, where we stayed for the night. The next day, we started from Lamayuru, took the Srinagar-Leh Highway and drove back towards Leh until we reached the diversion towards Zanskar Vallet.
From there we drove through Wanla, Sir Sir La (second highest Pass on the route), Photoksar village, Singe La (the highest Pass on the route) and then to Lingshed village.
By the time we explored Lingshed Monastery, it was already getting dark and we decided to stay back at Lingshed village instead of carrying forward towards Padum.
The route is as follows: Leh - Khaltse - Wanla - Hanupatta - Sir Sir La - Photoksar - Singe La - Lingshed - Zangla - Padum
Distance Chart - Leh to Padum via Lingshed
Leh to Wanla: 115 km
Leh to Sirsir La: 153 km
Sirsir La to Photoksar : 12 km
Photoksar to Singe La : 22 km
Singe La to Lingshed : 26 km
Lingshed to Padum: 88 km
