I need ONLY AC ever, NEVER heat (in the rear, cargo section, for my van), so, I'm going in there with some duct tape and see what happens! Lets see what happens when the gate is taped on to ALWAYS blow to the top! EDIT: IT WORKED! THANK YOU so much Lehew Tech!!! You saved me hundreds of dollars in repairs and being offline while waiting for repairs (not that you can find a mechanic that's available these days, not even the dealer, they said come back next month with appointment!).

Excellent video! Thank you so much! My symptoms were exactly what you described: hot air from the floor vents and nothing out of the ceiling vents. I got to the blend door and discovered the exact same problem. Instead of trying for the screw holding in the actuator, I just put duct tape on the top of the door to hold it to the housing in the open position. Yay! Cold air coming from the vents! Thank you so much for helping me to discover the cause!

Another thank you! AC lines were still cold so I assumed an actuator or blend door problem. Your video saved me the trouble of figuring out how to access the door. I made a tab/post out of metal and 5mm nuts and bolts rather than replacing with another blend door destined to fail. Nice to have rear AC again. My kids are grateful. :)

Thank you so much! I have a 12 passenger so I had even less room to work with. I ended up taking the next six screws off along the side and that gave me enough clearance to pull the unit out some and install the door and the actuator together.

Here’s what I did to connect the door and actuator - in case anyone needs help in the future. With a little wiggling and wrestling you can get the ac hoses towards the front of the van from the fan out and around the side plastic. This allows you to sort of twist the entire unit out - front end farthest. Then you have enough space to install the blend door and actuator together. To clarify, that whole rear unit is about 3 feet long. The part nearest the front of the van is the rear AC evaporator coil and lines. If you wriggle that part out you can sort of lift and tilt the entire unit out and have enough space to reinstall the door, actuator, and screw fairly easily.

Could you explain how you got the whole unit to turn? On the bottom left of the assembly there’s metal piping keeping it grounded
@shembeard4254 Жыл бұрын
@@patrick121295 I left the AC lines in place and wrestled the other end out just enough to slide the part in. Probably had to remove a screw or bolt somewhere on the it. Was tight for sure.

Great Video. 2012 E-350. Mine broke in the same spot. I repaired the door with MEK solvent and added some scrap ABS plastic for reinforcement. I don't mind spending $100 for a replacement part but if the part is a bad design it will just happen again. Now mine is stronger then original. Hardest part was putting the actuator back in where you had to use two hands. but I got it.

When you slid the flap in without it being attached to the actuator, then dropping video to finish, was misleading. I put the flap in attached to the actuator, which wasn't that hard. After that it was real easy. I also heated everything up with a hair dryer and no clips broke.

I found it easier to assemble the door onto the actuator while outside the HVAC box, raise the rear HVAC as much as possible, wiggle in a corner of the mode door and pull from inside at the same time that I was pushing & adjusting assembly from outside. The rear unit can lift at an angle quite a bit without any harm to connections or hoses.

@karlagracia1724 Жыл бұрын
Actuator: 6C2Z-18A318-BA and mode door: 5C2Z-19A-760-A. Seems pricing has gone down and the mode door sells from dealership at less than 20 bucks but the vacuum actuator is not available. If you go yo Ford Parts Giant you find them both for sale and a whole lot of info on related parts/parts numbers.
@petertrast4 жыл бұрын
I recommend starting at the front to see if you have vacuum making it through the firewall. I have seen tons of these videos, and, like mine, the issue was up front for most of them, vacuum leakage on the tube that passes through the firewall on the right side. Just remove the doghouse engine cover and check vacuum at any black colored vacuum supply line. Mine was at 4 and it should be between 15 and 20 I believe. Good luck and reply with questions... kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqHEfHmdgZt4nq8

@karlagracia1724 Жыл бұрын
I clipped it on before setting the door into the box slit, with those two 10mm bolts off the HVAC box moves quite a bit. I had one hand pulling the mode door inwards and with the other I carefully maneuvered the actuator & door into place but it was more of the hand pulling from the box that got the whole thing in there.
