Congrats on the 5k subs! Never ran any machines with the Leica grade control, but I think that being able to piggy back a single off of another bay station is pretty sweet idea. Great video 👍

Thanks Jimmy! The piggy back system is awesome and was a really smart move on Leica's part.

Man yeah! That is huge being able to use the same screens and software on multiple machines! I was sternly complaining to Cat the other day just over this same principle. Software continuity is so helpful when training guys to use equipment, and since software on equipment is getting to be such a big issue it would be nice to see it be upgradeable from machine to machine to keep them all the same. My 2020 excavator is completely different from my 2019 CTL is it a killer, no, but the continuity would be freaking awesome! Great video!

Thanks man! I totally agree, having a consistent interface keeps confusion to a minimum and makes training quicker. That's one of the big Reasons I'm such a fan of this system

I didn't know that Leica was big in GPS in other industries. I really like their dual slope lasers. Hopefully I can afford a 3D gps system one day. We do a lot of parks and playgrounds with contours and those GPS systems would be awesome.

Before I sold equipment I actually had no idea either. Come to find out they are one of the biggest GPS players in the industry

This one is a little too complicated for me but I tried to keep up 👍🏻 Hey congrats on getting to 5K subs, channel is growing good.

Congratulations on hitting 5k subs🤙 I’ve never used a gps system. They look very expensive💵 great for those large scale big construction outfits👍 All I use is a spectra laser system and looking at getting a magnetic set up to go on a excavator Wish I would have had the gps system when constructing football fields Awesome video Bryan🤙

Thanks James! The beauty of that like a setup is you can get the 2D system for around five grand if I remember right. Then when you are prepared to go to the full GPS setup you can spend the $60,000 + for the rest of the gear. The 2D system is super nice to have if you were just doing pretty straightforward slope work

@@DieselandIron question: We dig a lot of footings and sewer lines- is the 2D plenty for that? Would be helpful to free up the guy holding the transit pole to go to another site or just load out the dug out dirt.

What piggy back module are you talking about with your trimble base?
@DieselandIron3 жыл бұрын
There is a coax cable that comes from the base station that this piggyback module plugs into. It splits the signal so that the base station transmitter transmits the Trimble signal as well as the Leica signal. That allows both systems to run alongside each other with no interference.
@richardjohnson74423 жыл бұрын
Is this with a 900Mhz radio or a UHF radio?
@richardjohnson74423 жыл бұрын
You have no idea what your talking about. Do you have a picture of this AKA piggy back module?
@DieselandIron3 жыл бұрын
@@richardjohnson7442 I had to make a phone call for this one! The piggyback module is only for the 900Mhz radio. If you are using UHF you should only need to change the frequency on the Leica receiver to match the output of the transmitter. I also need to clarify that the piggyback module with the cables and batteries is actually $2,500. I was given incorrect information apparently....

I have played around with the Leica system a bit but to date I still haven't done a job using the Leica system.

Company I work for has heavily invested in Leica GPS for all our machines.. unfortunately we are underwhelmed with the accuracy and constant drop outs
@DieselandIron3 жыл бұрын
Really? That's interesting because Leica is actually far bigger then topcon or tremble when it comes to GPS and machine control Technologies. They are the tremble of Europe
@benjaminmaier13 жыл бұрын
@@DieselandIron yep. I do believe we are in a poor signal area which we should be using total station but the company only has 1. Also our surveyor who is creating the job files is new and I know the machine will do exactly what the file tells it too even if it’s not what you’re after. @@benjaminmaier1 thanks Ben! I appreciate the support brother! It's pretty miserable when you are working in a poor signal area and you constantly have dropouts. Have you guys tried any competitive systems in that area? I am curious how differently they would perform under those conditions

@@DieselandIron yeah mate we have a brand new 22T Volvo excavator with Trimble machine control. And a 25T with Volvo with Leica on the same site, they both benchmark off the check off really well but during the working day the Trimble has 0 drop outs and the Leica has hours of red screen (CQ Exceeded too high). Could just be the new Trimble has a better antenna/receiver
