Leica Q3 8K L-Log

I was really curious how the Leica 8K Footage would look like.
So I went for a Walk through Berlin and took in some moments.
The editing of the Log footage went well, but it took over 2 Hours to export this 3min clip :D

Looks fantastic for sure! How do you stabilize the footages? Having only optical stabilization is not easy, considering your camera shake is very minimal. Thanks for your video.

I just checked all the clips to see which ones I stabilized. Only 2 of the whole Video are. 00:07 - 00:13 - Sunset, direct Sun and the Window shades. And here it's just the basic Stabilisation of Final Cut. Just checked the box. Everything else where you can notice a little motion is Handheld with no additional help. I used both hands to hold the camera and held it close to the body, having a stable stance on both feet. The really stable shots are with a small Tripod. :)

Were you in manual focus or auto? I cant find a way to film in auto without focus pumping and ruining shots. Lovely examples on here. Nicely shot

Thank you! :)) I used manual focus. I had to close the aperture a lot because I didn't have an ND. The Autofocus would have been pumping a lot. The camera "sees" better with open aperture. With eye detection you can film yourself fairly well. But more complex things are a little to much to handle for the Q3 I guess. :) But It needs further testing from my side.

@@dasignarts yes. I shot a slow mo in 4k 60 in manual and it looked beautiful. All wide open. I think if you go around the limitations you can make really lovely video with this.

Nice video! What SD card are you using? I dont know if I need V90 cards for 4K or 8K video. Or do you think V60 cards are fast enough?

Thank you! :) I have a Sony Tough V90 with 128GB. I never tried a V60. My V30 definitely aren't enough. Also for the 60mp it would buffer and I'd have to wait for it to write the files if I wanted to switch to Video. The V30 really slowed the Camera down. With the V90 it's really snappy :)

I like the quality as well :) It's really cool for capturing Moments here and there. And it work even for talking shots if you record the audio well. The rolling shutter is quite bad though. :D And the higher frame rates like 50 or 60fps do have a weird thing going on around the edges of objects. I'll touch on that in the full review. But for shots like this it's definitely stellar!!

@@dasignarts yeah, I feel like 60fps quality drops greatly. Like theres some aliasing or artifacting or something. Doesnt happen in 8k 30p though. Quite sad since I wanted to shoot 4k60p footage, but to me it looks bad. Then 8k30p isnt too good for movement video since the motion blur is noticeable

@@nariza7 The quality definitely drops. As you say the artifacting around edges is noticeable. Quite sad, since it does even harder things than 4k60. At least I beliefe 8K to be harder. :D But I think if you use it for Social Media it's totally fine. Like for casual everyday capture it totally sufficient. Regarding client work I'd only use it if all the other cameras fail somehow or aren't in reach.

@@dasignarts yeah, though I do hope they can handle it through firmware or something. Maybe update it as they update the SL3 since its like the same sensor and processor supposedly. Like making updates to any pixel binning or line skipping algorithms that they are using. Oh well, that is the hope.
