Leif Hetland Interview: Norwegian husband, Cherokee wife, and family values

while in the mundane, i saw this popup on my wall in FB...it's Daddy Leif! and he's got an interview. oh yeah, we call him Daddy/Papa here in Los Banos, Philippines. we miss you Daddy Leif! what a question, so simple yet so profound! i love our son. once a year, we celebrate a day for three reasons: the death of my mom, and the birthdays of our son and of my eldest nephew from my only brother, my elder brother. ALL three on the same month and day of the year... when my mom died, it was unexpected and it was devastating for me and my brother. i was away from home that time. the last time i called mom over the phone was two weeks before she passed away. my brother, as the doctor, was the one who told his staff to stop the efforts to revive my mom. it was a low point for us, all our achievements in life meant nothing that time. (Can't help but think while writing this, what Daddy Leif was sharing about Jesus entrusting his mom to John) But, God! Oh Daddy God you are so good and loving. A year after my mom died, my eldest nephew was born, and two years after, the water bag of my wife broke on the same month and day my mom died and my eldest nephew was born! renewed purpose for us, both packaged in Heavenly LOVE! My son and my nephew are living miracles for us, and we love them so much. But I think it is but just a tiny glimpse compared to how the Father loves Jesus, how pleased He is with Jesus, that loving eyes, beholding the SON. And, in Jesus' prayer at the end of John 17 that Daddy Leif shared: "...so that LOVE WITH WHICH YOU LOVE ME may be in them...and I in them" such LOVE GOD HAS FOR ME AND YOU...for GOD TO LOVE US THE WAY HE LOVES JESUS...NO WAY!!!! this prayer of Jesus is passing through our time now...rippling through generations til eternity!

Such a beautiful testimony. Just started listening to Leif this week. I’ve cried and cried. I want this baptism of love. God bless the Philippines.

Hey Sarah. Great question. I must say, I may ruminate on this for a bit. "What does it mean to me that God loves me?" Coming from a childhood of abuse, I struggle to find myself loveable. Sure, I have good traits and qualities, but I tend to focus on what is wrong with me. Having to strive to be "loved" as a child, I still find myself striving to be loved by God. To KNOW He loves me is, at times, still a foreign concept to me. What I know of God intellectually is sometimes still difficult to connect with the heart.
