I was 4-5 years old and my uncle would help me play since I didn't understand English back then. He would answer the security questions for me and sort of modify the dialogue while reading it to me. I don't think he let me play the blow up doll part, though. But I still remember buying whiskey and the love hotel. XD

I learned a lot of english words with this game. The verification question were irritating and the save and restore options didn't work. I eventually finished the game but it was a long way.
@kriss3d4 жыл бұрын
Same here. Danish though. But exactly the same. I was just a bit older. Id spend hours with pen and paper trying to write down the questions and which answers id try only to cross them out as they were wrong. The problem with the verification questions is that you not only had to be an adult. But an american adult. And to have been born in exactly the specific time period to know those things. The questions were SO dated. And all you had to do was the Ctrl + X to skip it. Oh but getting the pills is where I was stuck for a long time.

My uncle Ned used to pirate early pc games and give us copies. He was a code breaker in vietnam. This is one of the games he sent us. I was in probably 5th grade when we got this loaded up. I simply cant imagine how my very Christian family let this slip through the crakes and I was able to play this. RIP uncle Ned, love you forever.

When I tried this game at the first time, there was much questions ("some easy question for you to provide that you are older than 18") and we used lot of time with my friend to find correct answers - without results. Well .. game was quite difficult because language skills was so poor (and not so much better even now..)

how come the font is so crisp?
@kicknotes8 жыл бұрын
My guess is that there is some type of font smoothing setting in the emulator used (DOSBox, etc.) As the emulator is emulating the original game code, it can distinguish things like rendering a bitmap (background) versus calls to font rendering functions at a low level. I'd assume that the emulator in this case is doing its own thing with respect to rendering fonts smoothly. The original EGA fonts were 8x8, and when a 320x200 game is rendered at 200%-300%+ on a modern display , that ends up being anywhere from 16x16 to 32x32 (or more) per rendered character, giving the emulator quite a bit of leeway to smooth an 8x8 bitmap font into a 32x32 region.
