Good review - well done. Picked this up last year and enjoy it.

Thank you Michael. Such a great piece isn't it?

Last September I went from feeling indifferent to Halloween villages to being really hooked on them. That piece was my favourite.

I understand what you mean... I think. Is it the realism you like about this house? Eventually I would like my Halloween village to be a mixture of 70's, 80's and 90's horror movies, with a dash of Stranger things, but there isn't too many Spooky Town pieces I can throw in to that mix, but then I see things like the Gloom Room and The Garden of Eaten, and I love all the colours and the OTT theming and I'd like to do a whole separate "Spooky Town" as well, but that's not going to wash with the wife lol.

@VideovilleVillages what I like about this piece is that it combines some part of real life with borderline spookiness. Some questions arise when you look at it. Is it haunted? Is it just an old inhabited house where there might be some crime taking place? Is it just a hallucination of the viewer? Generally, I am trying to create a borderline spooky town, meaning that nobody could answer for sure whether the town is haunted or it is just an "ordinary" town where the inhabitants are not conforming to the standards of inhabitants we are used to. I also like to incorporate some humorous and optimistic elements, especially those that defy the physical laws of life and happiness. For example, adding dancing skeletons in a graveyard.

Ooh I like it. I think those that are more provocative are generally more interesting - i like to not see everything the first time i look at something

Very nice review. I got this last year to go with my other haunted houses, and at first wasn't a fan of the kid's toys in front until a friend pointed out maybe the kids didn't get out of the house. That was just morbid enough for me to embrace it. I'll sub to see more of your reviews.

Thank you, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I'd have liked the scooter and ball to have been a little more weathered perhaps? But like your friend said, it does pose a question to whom they belong to doesn't it? I prefer pieces that allow a bit of interpretation or those that you need to look at numerous times before you see everything. Do you have the Lemax Gothic Haunted Mansion? I was wondering if the lighting is as good in person as it is on video?

@@VideovilleVillages I do, and it's unusual. The static lighting is quite subdued, mostly internal except for the flames/torches out front. But the lightning it rather startling, it's very bright. So I'd say the lighting is good in person, but photos of it make the building look somewhat bleak with just the internal lighting. I have a video on my channel from last Halloween where you can see it.

I'll check that out tomorrow then, thanks. I definitely want to add a few haunted houses to my village this year if I can find them for the right price, and that one caught my eye the other day

@@VideovilleVillages Some places here in the states are selling 13 Gastly Lane for discount right now. New, with the foam but no outer box. I picked up Crowley Hall for a discount like that last year.

That's really good. It's kind of slim pickings for Halloween villages in the UK. Very few available on eBay etc this side of the pond and eBay's international shipping price is often double the price of the buildings sadly. A few Garden Centers stock the newer products, but getting retired pieces is hard work sadly
