@@Asdbyte_ I don't mean to be rude but maybe you're overexaggerating about the sidequests, they're merely basic fetch quests like "bring 5 icecles", "kill 15 x enemies" and "kill the powerful enemy in location y". But yes, the story is awesome, the combat is great and the music is nice, but people should be awere Crosscode is mostly a puzzle game than an action rpg.

@@albertxion513 elden ring is an RPG. But some of the games listed in here were just action games. If no stats are adjusted or gained in EXP or gear grind its not an RPG. Yes you play a character in their role in some games but for years we have NEVER used rpg for those games. Monster hunter is an RPG. Devil May cry is not an RPG. The Witcher 3 and CP2077 are RPGs.

Extremely funny because devil may cry DOES have levels and XP, as well as progression through a skill tree and even inventory management. "Action RPG" is too broad a term to separate any game from it.

A very underrated action rpg is NEO TWEWY. So much complex mechanics, incredible variety of "movesets", stylish af, and most importantly: Enemies actually react to being hit and you can actually interact with the bosses during combat instead of them just face tanking every hit

Enenra is so good! been following the development since 2021 and it's come so far and the dev is aiming for an end of 2025 release. I've been so happy that indie games like Enenra are returning to a more straightforward action/character action game style. Other games I've been following that are carrying that flag Genokids, Sword of Symphony (which is now a spiritual successor to Hi-Fi Rush since Tango got closed down) and AIKODE (which is heavily inspired by the Nier games and even YOKO TARO HIMSELF is following the dev) If you're looking for dope heavy pop, The Home Team dropped their new album which is so far a banger. And if you want super heavy shit, In Hearts Wake dropped their new album too and that is a ripper!

These are great picks! Love CrossCode! Here's some of mine: Final Fantasy games from XIII onwards have been action-based like Crisis Core, VII Remake, and VII Rebirth. Yeah and Stellar Blade of course, highest selling game of April and May. The art direction, skill trees, the bangin' outfits, and the music with vocals (man the music!) should not be missed by action RPG fans. Seriously if you have a PlayStation 5 at least play the demo!

Props dude. You're now a part of my like weekly ambition to be rid of modern-incredibly shallow "3A" huge games. EVERYBODY is doing From Soft now and I feel like it's already 5 years too late. I was super into shooters a few years ago and I just couldn't do it anymore. Saturation, boring, no innovation, no inspiration, and awful business practices. I couldn't do it anymore (Ultrakill tho) and went back to my roots and played Bayo and Robotech Battlecry again. Picked up some odd stuff on sales all year and honestly I'm cleaning the plate now. Some anime arpgs, tried Hades and this craaazeeeyyy game BlazBlue Entropy Effect (>roguelites), and recently I've been playing Helskate which is this delicious mesh of Tony Hawk and like diet DMC, the devs are still working on it heavily so it's p rough around but the core keeps me playing and I can be pretty picky sometimes, so I def recommend Helskate on a deep sale. Anyway, honestly good work. Inspiring stuff man, keep at it. (bit the bullet on Pseudoragalia cause one of your vids. Premium.)

I have a recommendation/something to put on your radar! you should totally check out the upcoming indie Airframe Ultra by the developers of Rain World. It's like playable Akira with the racing and bike melee combat, it's got a fire retro aesthetic and FUCKING crazy good music in the trailers already. These guys are mad innovators, Rain World is such an underrated masterpiece if you can give it the time and space for it to click with you. These developers do beautiful stuff with worldbuilding, art direction, music and like... wild physics-based/procedural animation, which you can totally see in one of their most recent trailers for the game, where they're like zooming around on bikes and one player HOOKS another one with their pipe weapon thing, making the hooked player ragdoll and just fucking drags them along the ground as they speed away on their bike... brutal. Oh yeah that's the other thing, get excited because it's got SPLIT-SCREEN MULTIPLAYER STUFF IN IT. Which isn't as rare in indie games but is still rare in general! Tbh we don't know a lot about this game yet but the foundation looks pretty fucking hype
