I used to love watching my parents play this game as a kid. My favorite part was watching them explode. On one particularly difficult level, my mother accidentally double tapped the nuke button began freaking out. I laughed so hard I was in tears watching them blow up one at a time! She was not happy and quit playing after that.

Inspired by the game Shadow of the Beast, which came out on all kinds of systems but was best on Amiga.

@@WhyDidntIInventYT Definitely. The SNES version to me uses the same instruments too often in each song, plus they sound too dull for me. I prefer the Amiga and the Mega Drive since they sound more lively, and plus the fact they use a variety of instruments.

Me and my father in-law once sat there for a week while his wife and daughters were away on some sort of holiday. We completed it in the end, drawing diagrams and leaving them for one another so that we could progress past a lvel we had struggled with on any of the few occasions that we were not both in front of it during those 7 days. It was a hell of a male-bonding session.

It's super morbid how many of these levels flat out require you to let several lemmings bite it on purpose, especially those where the floor is too low at the very beginning and you get 1 floater :P
@WhyDidntIInventYT3 жыл бұрын
excellent longplay! I notice that some of your solutions are quite different from mine, eg in the fiery sunsoft level at 5:36:22, I built bridges using the steel blocks. and for the level at 4:24:32, I had the other lemming float instead of dig, and built the bridge from the lower level, and timed it so the bridge closed while the second lemming was climbing above it. and for 3:32:02, I built bridges up to the ceiling, and exploded my way upwards until I could build through the gap. and at 2:38:10, I had a lemming build a bridge to the right, float down, build another bridge, then bash, intersect with the digger, and mine. there's others but that's all I'll mention.
@bosshieM2 жыл бұрын
I love that you properly attempted a 100% rescue on the first half of the stage! Something like taxing level 27, if make a turnaround with the builder and bypass the ceiling from the left, we need to sacrifice only 3 lemmings! Amazing!

At the time I don't think there was an architecture in existence (console or computer) that didn't receive a conversion of this game. Even the original Gameboy got it.

Level 27 - Just a Minute (Part 2) is just absurd. Even following this walkthrough, stopping and starting using save states, it's hard as hell to get it right. Has to be pixel PERFECT.
@reloadpsi3 жыл бұрын
What's weird is there's two or three different approaches you can take to that level, but they still do indeed need to be absurdly precise. Appropriate for the 117th level I guess :P

Anyone thinking of becoming a parent should be required to play at least 600 hours of this game. Some of these levels, the way you breeze through was almost disgusting to watch. :) BTW: Thx for panning back and forth across the level. Lets you appreciate the scenery, take in the herculean task ahead, and sometimes theres little easter eggy type stuff out there to look at. e,g. A BeastII of a level, @4:48:10 -ish,... that level looks like it's from a whole different game, (because it basically is, but I love how lemmings has that stygian overtones running throughout, so it's fine by me). Good playthrough, lots of clever bits/solutions. That blooper reel at the end, with all the traps, maybe had me laughing a bit harder than I ought... they're gonna need a mop and bucket lemming. :) edit: or, that guy with the floor waxer who goes by after the curtain. That'll do it... is that lemming type in the sequels, 'cos he should be. :)

I'm not just saying you're a master to make you feel good, but rather as a direct statement. And if you think you aren't a pro because it took many attempts to get perfection, it's a lie because you kept retrying to get better, in which is how one becomes a master. Don't lie and say you aren't a master for practicing. I haven't seen the whole video yet, but from what I've seen is incredible already.
