Lemmy Kilmister about Ozzy Osbourne
I had the pleasure of meeting Ozzy Osbourne and he was as humble and charismatic as they come.
His passion for music, his witty sense of humor, and his down-to-earth attitude all made me appreciate him even more.
He truly is an icon in the world of rock & roll.
Lemmy Kilmister said it best: "Ozzy is a great guy. He's a real professional and one of the most honest people I know." We couldn't agree more! Thanks for all you've done, Ozzy! Rock on! 🤘🏼

Met Lemmy one night in the old London Marquee club in Wardour Street in London before the Marquee club moved to Charing Cross road . I’m sure it was a Dumpys rusty nuts gig..cool band back in the day and my friend nudged me and said …looks who’s over there and we went straight over . Introduced ourselves and asked if we could buy him a drink ! What a gentleman lemmy was , so easy to talk to and as we had seen them at the Glasgow Apollo ( long gone ) we discussed that gig and he was very appreciative of our praise etc ! Bought him a drink and he thanked us and we gave him space as everyone one was staring and trying to get near ! Great guy , I was 20 at the time and I’m now 59 so it’s a great memory! RIP Lemmy Kilminster.

Lemmy could tell me that I'm boring to my face and I would definitely agree. I don't want to live the life that he's lived. But I can sit around with a friend and talk about him, and I can appreciate that he lived that life. He's absolutely correct, we need outrageous people. And I know my life is better because Lemmy and his music continues to be a part of it. RIP Mr. Kilmister, and thank you.

Deep down though Lem was a pretty normal bloke. Sure he did drugs, but so did all the rock stars back then. But you never heard about him bashing anyone, or stealing, or vandalising anything, there was never really bad press about him, unlike a lot of rock stars people look up to today.

I remember having a conversation years ago with a fellow musician and she nailed it: musos talk about music, gear, the creative process, fantasies of getting somewhere, and some talk about drugs, whereas fans [many of these make their way into the industry as in other roles, including the media of course] talk about musicians, their behaviour, who they're going out with etc

Not really. As much as I love the music. What he says is what most 14-16 year olds think, he just got lucky and found a great band. Most people who live by his words will die at a young age. The fact that he got famous/successful is his blessing. He get's paid for his purpose in life, which is having fun and making music. If you don't get paid to do that, you will most likely end up in a clinic or worse.

Lemmy's cousin knocked on my door one morning in Caithness Scotland. He was looking for the hamlet of Killimster just 2 miles from my house. It was the ancestral home of Lemmy. Its where Lemmy's name is derived from. Lemmy knew nothing about this, according to his cousin, who'd driven 15 hours overnight from London to find the place. Trivial but true!

Tells it the way it is straightforward there's no BS with him they do have hit tunes but the corporate suits in the music world don't want recognize it. If it's not radio friendly they don't care but they know nothing about music with the crap they sign up all they do is sit in meetings or go to the golf clubs to sign deals to fill there pockets.

Despite so much of that comradery he speaks of, few rock bands showed any loyalty to their bandmates. Queen and U2 are perhaps the best examples of bands that remained loyal to each other. But otherwise you would search a long time for that kind of comradery in rock.

@@prisonersforprofit but that was Lemmy though. He was dying of cancer and still went and played a gig he had booked, Lemmy’s life was cigs, drink and drugs for most of it and rock and roll for all of it, but he was still very smart, could be incredibly charming, and I’ve never heard someone say anything bad about him. People say he was racist because he had notsee memorabilia, but he also said why he had it, and he had many black girlfriends. I dunno if you’ve seen the section from MTV where he did an ask Lemmy mailbag, and he gave advice to a young black kid who was a metal fan and his father hated him for it, and also to a 14yo girl who was pregnant to an older man who deserted her, I think he actually personally replied to, or rang her. He honestly gave out great advice and you could see he was being incredibly genuine and honest with them. He really was a great all round man.
