Karen, depending on the mesh type I use a wood burning tool to cut it. Since I have started doing that, I have eliminated fraying by 95%. Here is the wood burning tool I use from Amazon from my affiliate link: amzn.to/3tRWSLN

I'm having a hard time finding lemons anywhere. Hobby Lobby has fruits but no lemons.

It is very much still popular. It just might not be where you are or where you are looking for them. In fact, most people like the way you can create unusual designs that can not be achieved with say grapevines or evergreens. Like I always say there is a customer for every wreath, the goal is trying to find them.
