This is probably the most extensive use of the Funky Mule break. Holy smokes.

One of breaks that works in a tear out or atmospheric track

Bought a copy of this in Toronto without listening to it (Lemon D = instant buy lol). I remember playing the 'Static' side until the halfway point before stopping it, imo it sounded like techstep 'by the numbers' if that makes sense. Flipped it over to find this gem! This should've been the a-side, light years ahead of the flip.

Lemon D & Dillinja - Static from 1998? I dunno man that's pretty fucking decent amen track. Always liked that track I can easily see why they made it the A side.

@@FreshLyte I think it came down to the reverb and processing on the breaks - some of the drum edits sounded a bit awkward to me. Still a decent 12" of course, if you like techstep you can play the A side, and if you need something a bit more 'atmospheric' / melodic you can play this side.

I always found it be an 'awkward' track to mix. Not really because of the breaks though it just fades weird to me (too fast). Anyway I miss the days when you had a harder track and something more chill on a flip side.

@@FreshLyte Whoah! Thanks for referencing "static" as the flipside to this! I've been searching for that track and that weird sample forever! Would you happen to know of an old jungle track that has a "baby, if you're out there" sample in it? I heard it on a Kool FM pirate radio tape from Christmas, around 1995.
