This video is a review of the Primal 2 by Lems. I have had these shoes for nine months so it's time for an in depth review!! I go over performance, durability, and comfort.

I'm glad there is a thicker minimalist everyday shoe, because important for me is the width, the toe box and the zero drop. Unfortunately the great barefoot shoe companies in my country (Germany) have verrryyy thin soles and too narrow widths (even in the men's and unisex shoes, and I am a woman!). On concrete I just don't want only 4mm of a sole! I will try Lems in the next few days although I try to support short distance productions... I tried "Freet" from Great Britain, but most of them have a strange and low rubber tip, it's a pity, because they are wide and not too thin concerning the sole and It's a nice company. QUESTION: can you make the "Primal 2" waterproof(er) with a "Nik wax spray" or something like that, did you try? Thank you!

BUYERS BEWARE! Ok I really don't like giving negative reviews but I'm forced to do so with this product from Lems. After wearing a pair of Merrell Vapor Glove 4s for almost a year with no plantar fasciitis pain, I have become an avid believer in barefoot shoes. So after spending a hundred bucks on the Primal 2, I'm very disappointed to report that I am unable to wear the shoes due to the plantar fasciitis pain they cause me every time I wear them. It's my observation that the shoes have an inherent design flaw...well more than one flaw really. First there is a very pronounced crease that forms right away when breaking the shoes in. This crease happens on the inner wall of the exterior of the shoe and it actually protrudes so far into the foot (right by the arch where you don't want any contact with a barefoot or minimalist shoe) that it causes irritation right away. Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done to make the crease go away or to make it less noticeable. This issue has rendered the shoes completely unwearable for me. Also, the rounded heel is a problem if you ask me. It's very hard to ignore actually. Feels unstable and like you want to take sandpaper to the bottom to flatten it out. The last issue that I have with the shoe is that it's not actually flat. Big problem for a barefoot shoe! There is kind of a makeshift arch formed by the contour of the sole (upward relief spot right under the arch) and I am certain that this is negating the entire concept of being a barefoot shoe and is actually causing plantar fasciitis flare-ups! So I actually called Lems to see if they would offer me a return even though the shoes had been worn...only once or twice and showing little to no wear at all. The lady who I talked to was nice but she informed me that they would NOT offer a return and that I should try to sell the shoes on Ebay or something. Major loss just to try a hundred dollar shoe and be stuck with it if you ask me! And then I see video where they are giving pairs of these shoes away for free to youtubers...just to boost their product. So obviously those are the reviews you don't want to consider. Consider this review from a real, paying customer who has paid in full for the shoes and who is now stuck with them and with no chance of being reimbursed! Not the way to keep customers, I'm sorry to say. Do yourselves a huge favor and buy 2 pairs of Merrell Vapor Glove 4s for just a few bucks more than these imposter barefoot shoes. Overly cushy, annoying crease, annoying rounded heel, and annoying arch formed by the poorly designed sole. Back to the drawing board Lems! Observe how the competition is winning by creating a shoe that does nothing more than move with the foot freely and protects the feet from sharp objects. Merrell for the win! Oh and of course I haven't been paid a dime by Merrell because I'm a nobody and I just want to help other avoid blowing so much money on a falsely-advertised, faulty product. Thanks and feel free to ask away about the shoes. They're just sitting here taking up space until I finally decide to make a negative review video and throw them in the trash.

Primal 2's and nine2five's are awesome. I wore primal 2's for a month in Italy and I wear the nine2five's at work(literally every day). The only downside is that the blown rubber sole wears significantly faster than most other minimal shoes. The stack height is great for wearing them all the time. Also... primal 2's aren't running shoes at all. Can you run in them? Sure... but you can also run in leather boots. if you want minimal running shoes, get merrell's or something. Primal 2's are great daily kicking around shoes or travel shoes. Only downside... the soles wear out pretty quick.

Yeah, I'm rocking the Merrel Vaporflys now for running. Those things are much better. Thanks for the comment!

I bought these shoes 5 years ago and love them! They hardly look worn at all. The one thing that's bugging me now is that my left one has developed a crease or dent in the material, between my 2nd and 3rd toe. Wish I could post a pic. I'm searching ways of stiffening/hardening the vegan suede and mesh and reshaping the toe box. They still feel wonderful to wear - it's just a looks thing. I'm tempted to half and half elmers glue and paint that on and see how that dries - or maybe even hairspray - I'll ask Lems to see if they've run into this issue. Regardless, these are the best shoes I've ever worn! Do you have an idea about reshaping that toe box? Thanks

Don’t think it was mentioned in the video but, do these have an arch? On the website it says it’s flat from head to toe...I need shoes w zero arch.

I am sorely disappointed with my Lems Primal 2s. The shape of the shoe is outstanding. The comfort of the upper is amazing. The sole is complete crap. It comes rounded and hard as a rock. It bruised my feet for weeks before it softened up. They now work well for uneven terrain, carpet, or earth, but trying to walk on any hard surface is painful. I tried to buy inserts from Lems but they are always out of stock. I don't understand why I should have to cramp my foot in the upper just to have a little cushion anyway. I have a pair of Nine2Fives and they are absolutely the best pair of shoes I have ever owned. Why can't they offer that sole on a tennis shoe? It boggles the mind.

Yeah, after about 5 minutes. They’re really breathable because of the mesh, but the downside is they aren’t water resistant at all.
