I considered it to be an life, rather than a chunk of HP, which would make sense if we'd look at something like Zil's PoDD LNN (he did get hits which took away hearts, but never died or bombed.) It seems too silly to imagine otherwise for this game, that is why I considered this in this way, I don't think there's really an official definition for this game on what NM is supposed to mean.
