This is my first video of a string cutter that I have designed. The string cutter actually consists of two separate units which I explain in the video.

Years ago I learned from an older instructor to mark the blade's cutting edge with magic marker. It makes it easy to see what part of the blade has been used.

I have just picked up my first batch of string cutters from the machine shop. All but 2 of them are sold. These first ones are going to cost $600 plus shipping. My machinist tells me that he underestimated the amount of hours involved , so the next batch will cost $750 plus shipping. This is somewhat higher than other string cutters , but you do not have to also buy a splitter. I look at it this way , for the price of 3 bosals , you can buy the most sophisticated string cutter on the planet.

Very good tool Mr. Len Yule: those two styles are to make cuts in angle of 90 and 45 degrees sir. and they are excellent tools. but when you want to thin the leather on top and bottom how you do that, do you have another tool or use these? and if you have another string cutter it would be great if you made another video showing us that tool Mr. Len Yule! Thank you for showing us your invention and greetings from SONORA Mex.

Job Quijada, watch the video carefully. I show exactly how to split excess material off of the flesh side on the video.

Could you add a winch of sorts that toy use to pull the string? You would then turn a crank instead of pulling. Easier on your hands, I would think

These tools already cost too much to produce to add another feature . I have had quite a time even finding a machine shop to build them. They can work for the oilfield business here in Louisiana & make far more money than they can building these tools. Getting the little nuances right takes very careful work on their part.

Very expensive and over engineered just to cut lace. Make one yourself from wood for a fraction of the price.
