Damn girl, you've got a powerful voice and good taste in songs. Kudos also to your guitarist for playing it straight up and not getting carried away. This may be the best version there is on You Tube, including those by the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan and yes even Nirvana. Try also Janel Drewis' version. If you haven't come across it, she was a game dev for the Telltale Walking Dead series, now an animator for Pixar. They wanted to commission a singer to do a dark version of the traditional tune, and someone had heard her playing in her free time, asked her to do it. It remains one of the two best renditions of the song I've heard.

This is a cover of a folk song that dates back to 1870. Leadbelly is debatably the first to record it, but Nirvana didn't write the song. I guess the implication here is that Lena Hall is covering Nirvana's version of this cover. Kurt loved Mark Lanegan's version but Mark directed Kurt to Leadbelly letting Kurt know he also didn't write the song. None the less, this is a great cover of that cover of that cover of that cover. :)
