The song is a decade to late. Lenas professional and enthusiasm makes the song work. Think of the song as something from the sixties or very early seventies it will work better. Talented and beautiful person

It's a cruel industry..it's destroyed a lot of great artist .but Lena in my eyes was a one off.artist.i feel she was delt the wrong cards in life . bless her 💓

She certainly was a 'one off', and Philip Solomon had already shown with Twinkle and Wilma Landkroon that he couldn't manage young artistes. His greed was certainly bigger than his competence.

Lena had a remarkable voice. Sadly poor management just didn't take proper care of her career. She was pigeon holed into singling those old Hollywood show tunes. That voice mas made to sing soul/R&B not old Broadway razzle dazzle. Lena could easily have handled a big disco diva power house vocal during this period which would've been more appropriate to her age rather than trite dated 2nd rate pop. As she matured a more Jazz oriented or power ballad phase would've been perfect. Such a shame- a wee lost lassie with a massive talent that was never really allowed to reach its potential. She could've been one of the greats- up there with Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey.

I agree, she had a wonderful voice as a young artiste, but from about sixteen we started to get a glimpse of what her voice was going to be like when it fully matured. On the 1979 L.P. Presenting Lena Zavaroni, there were three songs written especially for Lena by Susan Quin; I Am, Until The Night, and Then Again You're Gonna Wake Up. The Solomons had nothing to do with these three songs, they were produced by Dec Cluskey of the Bachelors at Red Bus studios, with backing by top musicians including guitarist Martin Jenner, and the string section of the Liverpool Philharmonic, Yet the Solomons still went back to making her record second rate stuff like Jump Down Jimmy.

@@lovinglenazavaroni9503 Thanks for replying. Such a wasted talent and a lost soul. I get so angry thinking about it all. It still happens today- just think Jessy from Little Mix

See if that lassie was managed properly and was put in the direction of a proper song writer, she would have been very successful. Pity. She was a nice girl apparently.

True, her manager and her parents have a lot to answer for.
