I’ve so enjoyed many of your videos, in which you both convey so much passion and enthusiasm for the country through adventure travel in the outdoors. It’s important to Taiwanese, and to the world, that the nation is seen as so welcoming and shares so much with the rest of the world. This trip video brings an invitation to further questions, which I hope you might emphasize in the future, given not only your positive and empathetic approach, but by the influence you can convey by your public presence. Taiwan is, of course, the traditional heritage land of many indigenous tribes and nations, yet their story has been diminished by Chinese and other foreign settlers and the vagaries of global expansionism that ultimately carried huge impacts-many tragic-for its native peoples. Those impacts are evident today for anyone choosing to look, and I appreciate that you did give mention to the some of those economic forces. There is a bit of sense of forlornness that emerges from the story of 瑞岩部落 (though we should know its Tayal name), wrought not only by 921, but more profoundly by forced settlement, resource exploitation and environmental injustice of which littering is only a small part. We can all do better to educate ourselves and spread that knowledge to the world.
