A very nice series of videos. I appreciate your walkthrough. Very informative. I have a question regarding the grounding. I recently purchase a Lenco l75 (very similar to yours) and I have problem with buzz noise (a huge peak at about 149 Hz). The noise floor is generally not too bad but the buzz is way too loud. I separated the grounding of the power and the signal and using the EU 3 pin power socket (just like yours). For the grounding of the arm I use the yellow wire attached to the arm assembly directly to a separate port (to be attached to the pre amp). The small jump wire that attaches the TT ground to the left channel was de-soldered. In my understanding everything is fine but the result is just awful. Any thoughts? I am using a Tc-750 Preamp and Ayima A07 for testing. The Amp and the speakers are quite alright as I use them regularly for another setup. I appreciate any thoughts you might have on this. Best, Ceena

the arm is isolated from the top plate as the pidestal is plastic - running the arm ground directly to the amp (not via the connecting board) should do the trick. If you still have a buzz, check that the arm ground is still soldered to the arm inside the pidestal, it runs from the underside of the arm, through the pidestal to the underside where a second yellow wire runs from arm to the connecting board. A test/search for error can be done like this: take a piece of wire and connect one end to your TT/RIAA ground. With the other end, touch the headshell, arm and other parts to hear if it disappears. this will give you the point where the arm ground is broken. Also, if headshell and/or cart is unmounted, you’ll get a buzz. hth - cheers

Hey thanks a lot for your prompt reply. I will take a look it and let you know. Interestingly that was my initial approach. I imagined that the arm should be isolated from the top-plate but once I inspected the inside I realized that the yellow wire running from the arm (I assume that is the ground of the headshell) was soldered to the body of the arm (connecting everything to the plate) so I de-soldered that one too. Anyway thanks again. Let's see if I bring it back to top. It would be a shame. The unit is in a very good shape. Idler wheel was in tact. motor runs on a solid 33.1 with very little Wow and fluctuations. @@drlencowich

@@sarsedacn my guess is that is the solution then - resolder the yellow wire to the arm - it grounds the arm👌 see start of video 3 for arm assembly

Hi, once again thanks for your suggestions. Thought to give you a follow-up. I was able to resolve the issue which happened to be many fold! In short the Lenco's ground wiring was fine. My test amp (Ayima A07) was not grounded properly so I ran a wire from the housing to the ground power and that got rid of the 150 Hz. But then I was stuck with a 50 Hz peak which was very stubborn. I realized that the RCA cable that connects the TT to the pre-amp was picking up noise from the powerline (which was placed very close to the plug). Better shielding cable and away from the plug point solved the issue. Now the Lenco is brought to life and what a sound 🙂

Hei, har du noe tips til gode phono plugger til å montere i chassiset slik du har gjort? Kjøpte et par billige kontakter fra Skutle i Bergen, de holdt bare 1 måned før de tok kvelden 😮
