Little Big was where it all started which led to The Hatters and now we have Leningrad. I assume anyone associated with Little Big is gold so lets check this group out. Yeah, Peter is how we call St. Petersburg. Also, the video is full of Russian celebrities and cultural references so it must be confusing for people from Western countries. For example, you can see popular rapper Pharaoh (blonde dude with long hair) drinking shots at the bar, then famous journalist Nevzorov smoking his pipe and reading newspaper. And the dude who tries to drink shots but constantly misses his own mouth is a football player Kerzhakov who is infamous for constantly missing the goal. :D As for "this is purely Peter": there's two huge stereotypes about St. Petersburg: firstly, its really full of artists of all kinds (that's why we call it our cultural capital), and secondly, that people seriously like drinking there, haha. You can understand how it's seen if you watch another Leningrad video called "В питере - пить", which I would roughly translate as "In St. Petersburg you have to drink". Thanks for the video!

Guy in orange shirt is Sergey Shnurov a.k.a Shnur -- author of all ideas, all songs of Lenigrad. He is absolut genius as composer, poet and music producer. Literally, Leningrad=Shnur.

The guy in the orange shirt is the leader and the main male vocal in the band Leningrad. They changed their female soloists a lot, but he always stayed with the band. He writes the songs too..

St. Petersburg is a city named in honor of the Russian Tsar Peter the Great, who built it, so Peter the short colloquial name of the city, during the Soviet era was named after Lenin, as the name of the group Leningrad.

The whole video was unofficial anthem of St. Petersburg. Most of the people in that bar were local celebrities showing off on how "real, but intellectual" St Petersburg is.

This particular music video is not exactly the best one for review: you need to have a LOT of insight into contemporary Russian culture and it's icons - there are a lot of cameos in the video, really, and the whole premise is these people being connected by one city - St.Petersburg (also called Peter for short) which is called the culture capital of Russia. All of this makes me think that for a foreigner this video must be underwhelming. If you allow for some recommendations in terms of music videos: Leningrad - In peter we drink kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6bKmqmEh76ZoMU - more about the city culture and the premise is - drinking seems to solve all the issues. And less popular, ones (haven't seen any foreigners react to these), but IMHO very good ones: Leningrad - Bomb kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYHIY3itr6x-apo (I would probably translate it as Bombshell, though) - a femme fatale story set in a very criminal time period of 1990s Leningrad - ZOJ kzbin.info/www/bejne/epjHgWiLZ52dfsU (literally "Healthy lifestyle") - a song on how it doesn't matter if you're a drunkard or a health evangelist if in the end you're a dumbass. Leningrad - Karasil kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6KmnYOdes-seKM (literally "crucian" - a type of fish) - a song on dreams and a video on how people would do anything to stay in the "clique" of pop culture.

Everybody in the bar are local celebrities, artists and journalists. E.g. the guy who keeps spilling vodka off his mouth is the best football forward in the history of Russia and Zenit St Petersburg legend Alexander Kerzhakov (now retired). He has scored more goals than anyone but was famous for missing the target twice as often, so here he is - placing his shots way off the target again. Vodka shots off his mouth this time. Yep, there is like a dozen of such jokes in every scene there. Real St Petersburg bullshit.
