Yes. And to boot, Bowe and Lewis had finalized negotiations to split a $31M purse in 1994, after Bowe lost the titles to Holyfield and Lewis had the WBC strap. It was all contingent upon LL getting past Oliver McCall - and instead he got KO'd, so in some sense Lewis is every bit to blame as Bowe for that fight not happening.

The Americans tried everything to get him beat, fix judges, ( but he clearly best holyfield so they cudnt rob him. If it wasnt so obvious they gave it to holyfield ) give him a ring half size v mercer , but he beat Mercer at his own game n won by few rounds, busted Ray up , numerous fights they wudnt warn , or take point off opponents who threw illegal punches, they always made him fight the toughest, at there toughest, in there backyard... And they STILL cudnt beat him. For talent, big wins and achievements he's on the same level wiv Mayweather. When at he's best he never lost either

It's no secret. Riddick Bowe was lazy, did not like to train hard or be very diciplined and he had fears of losing to Lennox Lewis. He was the champion and he dumped the WBC world title belt in a trash can = Major disrespecting Lennox Lewis and all other HW who was in line for that belt. Sure Rock Newman, Bowe's manager is to give blaim as well as he really never wanted Bowe to go near any opponent that could have a decent chanse of defeating Bowe and ALWAYS made a hassle of EVREY negotiation to get off the hook and put away the blame. Very calculated moves. Obviously he was not the fighter. And he was in it for the money alone and not for helping Bowe become the best he could be as a champion.. Riddick and Rock knew there money talk was BS. The knew they would have made more money fighting Lennox Lewis than the guys they fought instead. What? a 40+ shot-gun shot version with drug problems Michael Dokes? A journeyman who was not even ranked by the WBC, IBF, WBO or The Ring with Jessie Ferguson? Come on here, no one did then and does now buy that Bowe never did more money on BOTH of those worthless title defences togheter then a single fight with Lennox Lewis. Rock and Riddick both knew there was a good chance Lennox would not only be able to beat Bowe, but knock Bowe out. Lewis was stronger, hit harder, better at distance boxing while Bowe wanted close-combats and slugg his way. They did not want to lose all 3 belts in the first defence. Cowards. And after the belt dump, they could have fought in 1994-1997 and was planned to fight in 1997...but Bowe prematurely retired after having got his butt humilated by Andrew Golota TWICE - who Lewis took on instead when Bowe bailed and ran over in just 1 round!

I think it depends when they fought, as to the outcome. You look at an earlier Lewis and he was a totally different fighter to the more sophisticated later Lewis. Where as, Bowe had too many wars, and aged quickly. I think a pre-Steward Lewis wouldn't beat Bowe. I don't see World Champion Bowe being bothered by a Rahman or a McCall. However, a prime Bowe vs the prime later Lewis would I think go Lewis' way. The bottom line is Bowe's manager was the ****s and should have let him fight Lewis when he was in his prime.

Apparently Eddie Futch (Bowe's trainer) was the one who nixed it. Futch knew enough about Bowe's strengths and weaknesses to know what was going to happen if Bowe fought Lewis. Bowe had shoddy defence and would get hammered by Lewis's right hand. Lewis would likely win by KO. Bowe's camp decided it definitely wasn't worth the risk.

Not to mention Lennox was landing combinations of beauty, in a fight where he switched to another style to adapt on the go ! Lewis vs Klitschko : Klitschko won the early rounds then it inverted, Lewis took over and won the last rounds. Rewatch the 5th round, Vitali is a walking punching bag, he can't even throw punches anymore, he just stands there eating monstruous powershots, and clinches everytime he can, his face is a mess, he has at least 3 different cuts around the same eye and there was 6 more rounds for the slaughter, how was Vitali winning ??? Having won more rounds doesn't mean you are winning when you are on the way to be koed. Was he winning at the end of round 2 ? Yes. Was he winning at the end of round 5 ? Absolutely not, his life was in danger !

Tyson beat nobodies and a retired man. Arnie Boehm says Lennox already got Mike's number in sparring before Olympics, so the so called Cus d'Amato Tyson. (the same Olympics to which Mike failed to qualify. Lennox won gold) Easy to understand why Lennox was always calling Tyson but you can't find a single one of Tyson calling Lennox.
