It's probably a huge shame I've never heard this song before now, as a Dutchman. Seeing the current folly with the Eurovision, this is unimaginable good. I'm not a very big fan of Dutch music, but hearing this song simultaneously redeems the Dutch language as a medium for poetry, while also making me wonder what the hell is up with the subpar tripe that's usually shuffled around.

Kwam net op het idee om te kijken of Nederland ooit gewonnen heeft op de Euro Song Festival en tot mijn grote verbazing hebben we 4 winnaars gehad paar decennia terug! Helaas worden steeds verkeerde mensen naar de Euro Song Festival gestuurd met rare liedjes waarvan je echt niet hoeft te verwachten dat ze het gaan winnen omdat ze niet goed en origineel zijn. Nooit geweten dat Troubadour een NL muziek band was! Een hele leuke nummer !

This song is based on the troubadours of occitan.north french trouveres, and the german minnesenghers style of music. Wich all trace their way back to romance and moorish music. Wich fado is also an evolution of. Also it definitely has some iberian influences.
