Lenny was a smoker. He probably started when he was 10 years old. I think that was responsible for the cancer, rather than the steroids.

Given that he wasn't the brightest man I'm willing to bet he made some bad decisions about the amount of juice he took. Trouble is when he saw the results it's very hard to come off it & I bet he even took more. Even pro bodybuilders screw up & lose livers or die. Coming off the sauce is not so easy because it's also a mental turmoil as well as hormonal. Guys like McLean love to be the "man" & the biggest most feared thug in town. He didn't know anything else in his sad life. I certainly wouldn't worship any other man especially not a bully boy thug.

Although the skull is immensely strong the brain is bounced around inside that's the problem. Later in life McLean was suffering, watch his last interviews.. his brain was a mush ...
