@@brainyballoon6383 When the laptop sleeps, after wakeup, it doesn't connect to the wifi; you have to restart the laptop. But this is not an adapter (hardware) issue (I think) because I'm incurring this issue after I updated the software (drivers & windows).

@@johnfriesen hi, i have the same model in 16 inches and it's really nice, but i have some problems with the wifi. download speeds are really slow and i often find myself refreshing internet pages to actually load. it's pretty annoying, as i have to get a virtual machine iso which just doesn't download. considered switching out the wifi card but I'll wait a bit to see if i can fix the problem another way. i bought it last sunday

Great review, I just ordered one with a discount with my preference - without windows os. I'm surprised with the build quality, for an ideapad it seems pretty good, I have owned an ideapad before and it was total trash, full plastic, hinges just broke and it even lacked some screws inside in the exact area where it broke. Anyway, I totally agree with the numpad thing - centered keyboard and speakers on sides would be perfect, like in ThinkPad Z16 but as gorgeous and appealing this thing is, it's out of the budget for me at the same time. Also, would appreciate full sized arrow keys like in new Redmibook - it's a shame Xiaomi don't sell them outside of China - all is perfect about its ryzen edition to me. This one seems like the only real option if one wants a good and big 16:10 display in the west unless you are ready to spend over 2000$ for a laptop, at least for now. It feels like 16:10 aspect ratio and AMD Ryzen 6000 cpu's will become a trend in near future, can't wait.

I went to the Lenovo store and this exact model was the warmest laptop in the store! It was ridiculously warm compared to all the other laptops on display, even though the store was air conditioned and the ambient temperature was cool. Such a disappointment. On the other hand, the 14" version of this laptop with the R7-5800U chip run very cool and I'm now considering sacrificing the screen size to get a laptop that will be running cool.

It runs cool most of the time, even if the ambient temperature is hot. My unit has a little bit of an electrical noise going on sometimes (like a coil whine), but I can only hear it if it is very quiet in the room.

Thanks for watching! I did have WiFi issues but it wasn't during use. Instability only happened when I turned on my computer from standby, where the WiFi would not work for a minute or two and then started to connect.

Thank you for watching! And yes, all drivers were updated. Seems like a lot of users seem to be swapping the WiFi card. Overall though, the WiFi issues aren't big enough to be a deal breaker! It never drops connection while in use. It only happens sometimes when you put the laptop to sleep or turn on or off VPN.

I've had an Ideapad 330S for five years now, and the hinge has been solid. Never experienced a problem despite having opened and closed it hundreds of times since 2019. This Ideapad 5 pro is more expensive and has a better build quality, so it should be better.

@@twitchmajordn on my slim 7 pro, you can disable the graphics card going into bios uefi by repeatedly pressing volume down or f2 key, then under the configuration tab, you change the graphics from switchable graphics to uma graphics (which basically means integrated graphics). the more convenient way that i use to get more battery life is by using ctrl+q to switch to battery saving intelligent cooling, and switching power mode to "best power efficiency" by right clicking the battery icon in the taskbar and clicking power and sleep settings. Idk if the ideapad 5 pro has an automatic refresh rate setting, but thats what my laptop is always on, and i find it doesnt affect battery life that much.

Sorry I am not well-versed in technology. Can you charge this laptop with a USB Type C charger? If needed, can you connect this to a power bank using a USB C cord and charge it up when you are not near a power source apart from the power bank?

Yes you could charge it with a USB C Charger. I use a 65W Charger for that. A powerbank should work if it is able to deliver "Power Delivery". But ther is a Bug in the Firmware. After using USB Charging you got poor graphic performance because EVERYTHING is only running on the IGPU of the Ryzen Processor. To fix that you have to go to the BIOS an select the "Disconnect Battery" (for service) option. Plug the normal power chord in and boot again.

Look at Zephyrus G14, specifically last years model, if you need extra power. It has great battery life too. The GPU is not so constrained, compared to the ideapad 5 pro. Even if you get the rtx 3050 model it will be limited to 50w as opposed to 80w on the g14.

I have Ideapad 5 Pro 16 with 5600H, no dGPU. I have 2 problems with this laptop. Fans are annoying, even in idle the pulse every 2 minutes even on the lowest power profile in Lenovo Vantage. My CPU seems to constantly run clocks above 2500-3000 Mhz. In many reviews it is shown that during idle and light tasks clocks go below 1500. I don’t know what causes this. Also touchpad is borderline unusable. Very often it does not detect single finger taps, sometimes single finger tap is detected as two finger tap causing menus to open, two finger scroll sometimes is not detected, sometimes single finger cursor move is not detected. Touchpad is not reliable. Also the touchpad surface is less easy to glide than the aluminum chassis itself, which is ridiculous.

Check what is using cpu in task manager. My friend came in with his gaming laptop and it was like a jet engine while running Chrome. It was using 60% of the CPU. Switched to Brave (Firefox also works) and that fixed his issue. No clue what could've caused Chrome to act that way.

I have this for 9 months now, but the 3050RTX variant and heat ups like crazy around the speaker grills. I get 90c temps when playing Valorant. Is this normal for a compact laptop? I also agree with the horrible wifi card.

Try undervolt your gpu you will get better efficiency. And lock your fps for better input lag

@@mupmuptv This, and for gaming you can try lowering your cpu tdp which will reduce heat at the cost of a couple fps (try to find a sweet spot). Use amd apu tuning utility. If 90C is the gpu temperature then yes it's quite high. Also you could try disabling cpu boosting, but it makes the laptop way less snappy, although for some games it's known not to impact perf much and reduce heat quite significantly.

I have 2 of these laptops, don't get me wrong very good bang for the buck, and also pairing of specs; considering that BE AWARE the HINGE is LITERALLY trash you can search it on the internet ... (it is a common point of failure) I have opened it and believe me when I say this is tiny and weak

Yes and they released the new 2022 with non upgradable ram, why are they doing this, its the only reason why im not buying this laptop rn. Also you cant find a 32 gb Ram model anywhere.

Never buy Lenovo , they pass you around and never fix the bugs you report , i bought a new Lenovo laptop and they have a bios bug for vram alocation they don't fix , 3 bios options and still the only way to alocate 2 gb to v ram is never mod any settings in bios after bios update . This bug is present in ideeapad 3 laptops .

Bro, in this era, buying a laptop isn't dependant to brand... but sub brand is also giving involvements, for example: lenovo ideapad migh be not recommended but lenovo yoga might be very recommended; old lenovo thinkpad series migh be more recommended than new lenovo thinkpad series
